Title: Bad Covers
Post by: ShadowBrain on September 11, 2008, 04:43:30 PM
Covers of anything are, of course, make or break. They're the first thing someone sees when the faintest consideration of a purchase enters their head, and it is therefore vital they make a good impression. So it is odd that there are so many downright terrible covers for videogames, movies, albums, and the like. Post your "favorite" ones here.

Recently, albeit indirectly, introduced to me by a friend, what is widely regarded as the worst album art ever (http://www.octanecreative.com/Parodyville/worst_album_covers/2.jpg) (no, you don't get to see it straight up. You must earn it).

There are a lot of contenders for worst album cover, and that is only one of them.

I'm sure some of you are aware already, but the box art for the first Mega Man game. It's basically an old man in a jumpsuit. XP

"MY TURTLE'S DEAD"!?

What an outrage!  That is the worst album art of all time, hands down!

It seems I can't make a single post without one error. Oh well, the pendants can rest at night knowing I TRIED.

Wii Fit has got to be the most god-awful box-art (the actual disk box, which I can't seem to find online, so if you don't own the game, you'll have to take my word for it) for the Wii--An aging woman and that's about it. It's doesn't even have decent composition. It's all crowded to the right. Bleck.

You say that as if Nintendo or 99% of the people of the people who bought Wii Fit care about that sort of thing.

Really, though, Touch Generations is a very helpful system for me. If I see a game with the logo on it, I don't buy it.

Noooo, it's simply crap and I'm calling it out for it. I have the game *Gasp* because I see potential for the board. The prospect of a new Punch Out!! should be enough to draw "hardcore" attention. Oh, who am I kidding? The prospect of a Square-Enix game should draw in nerds like a massive black hole.

The Goosbumps books were horrible. When all the kids in second grade were reading that, I was too busy with The Hardy Boys.

Also, as a critic of the text, I do not believe that R.L. Stine is one man, but rather a pen name for a collection of poor horror writers.

I liked some of the Goosebumps books. Or at least How I Got My Shrunken Head and maybe Welcome to Camp Nightmare. Then again I was never a fan of horror so maybe my opinion doesn't really mean anything.

I think that they're great books for kids. I--and others--may see them now as breezy rip-offs of Twilight Zone episodes and Stephen King books, but I must say I read them (and some of the spin-offs) for quite some time until the last few years.

About the Goosebumps Talk~

I don't even remember how it happened, but I'm the semi-proud owner of all 62 original Goosebumps books. I have 14 of the 2000 Series, and I have 24 of the Choose-your-own Goosebumps book, 5 of the TV Book Series, 3 of the Tales To Give You Goosebumps, and a Goosebumps Triple-Header.

People tell me I collected them when I was a raving second grader.

...

Are you SCARED yet?
