In his first appearance in SML2, Mario pwns him but in his loss, Wario cries like a baby. Did Bowser ever cry? Wart? Nope, don't think so.
Also, what's up with his appearance in SM64 DS? I mean, why would HE want to help Mario? Aren't they supposed to be enemies? Wario took over Mario's castle before!
-
As best as I can tell, Wario was put in there solely for the 4-player co-op that it was supposed to have (ergo, Super Mario 64x4) and then didn't.
The official response, of course, is that without Wario you couldn't have a metal cap.
-
Why the heck shouldn't he be in Super Mario 64 DS? It's easy enough to imagine that he heard Mario telling Luigi that they're off to eat some royal cake and headed off to get whatever he could.
Wario isn't Mario's enemy. He's just a crazed, greedy man. Mario had a castle* that he wanted, so he took it over. Not evil--just something he had to do to achieve his desires.
*Why the heck did Mario have a castle? This seems way more non-canon than anything that happens in WarioWare. Which includes a Microgame where Wario must catch and shake Mario's hand, smiling brightly.
-
Mario Land was invented solely for there to be a setting for SML2. There is no canon.
-
Yeah. Just saying, it makes absolutely no sense for Mario to out of nowhere have a castle, and the amish Wario fans disregard the happenings in WarioWare as "non-canon" and Wario's adventures as being "canon." Ironic.

While Mario and Luigi were in Brooklyn, Bowser took over the entire Mushroom Kingdom. They came back a decade or two later, shortly before Super Mario Bros., wherein they took back most of the land, which had been totally populated by Koopas. Mario and Luigi each set up shop in castles in strategic locations across the land, where they held the land down until the Mushroom Kingdom's citizens repopulated the area. After about a year, Mario left some housesitters and escorted Daisy, who had also been in Brooklyn, back to Sarasaland. Wario wanted to get back at Mario for never letting him be the sheriff when they played Cowboys and Indians, so he hired Tatanga to distract Mario while Wario took his castle. Once Mario had gotten rid of Tatanga, and Herman Smirch, he came back and kicked Wario out of the castle. Wario then founded WarioWare, Inc. primarily for the purpose of making his own version of Nintendo's Sheriff, so he could be the sheriff every time.
As for that giant robot statue land of Mario... I like to think of it as a metaphor for something. Mario did some weird soul-searching on the trip, and had to confront his own greed, represented by the three pigs in his brain, before he could face Wario.
...Sorry.

Did Bowser ever cry?
Super Mario RPG, probably one of the Paper Marios and or Mario & Luigis...
Wart? Nope, don't think so.
Wart sucks hard. But he did bleed. From his eyes.
-
I did wonder about that castle... and why there was a tiny, teary-eyed imp inside Wario.

I am completely against Youtube Poops and wish every last one of them gets purged. Why would I make or post one?

I had this fanon idea that the castle/Mario Land in SML2 was there to be Mario's "Fortress of Solitude" a la Superman, serving both as a museum of Mario's achievements (hence the fancy statues) and the place where he goes to take a load off in between games. Somewhere down the road "Mario Land" was rebuilt into the theme park from Mario Party 2, and the rest is history.
-
Wario isn't a baby. He's the freakin' man! Not as manly as Captain Falcon, but he's at a close number two.
-
My fanon idea is that all the Parties and Sports take place in the new universe created at the end of Mario Galaxy. <--- (SMG spoiler)
-
If you hit Wario in Mario Kart 64, he will go "Waaaahhhh!"

Oh good. Someone else who thinks along the same lines that I do. I thought I was the only one to ever notice that. I pointed it out to my sister, but she didn't quiet get it (unitl after I explained it to her).
Anyway, who wouldn't cry after Mario stomped all over their head? I'm sure it must hurt.

Hes screaming, not crying. -_-

Wario hasn't appeared in any "major" Mario game since SML2, not even the RPGs, so it seems to me that him and Mario don't see each other that often, except for the spin-off games, and rare instances like SM64 DS, if you consider it canon. Now with his new company and everything, he probably spends a lot of time in the Diamond City area making his games (or rather, forcing his employees to make them). Mario does seem like the kind of person who would forgive Wario for stealing his castle and everything, however, seeing as Wario hasn't done anything nearly as villainous since then, so when Wario is around, he and Mario should get along fairly well.
I'm not very fond of the whole "fanon" concept, if the truth must be told, especially since I'm a "conformist" fan-fiction writer (if that's the right term). I tend to avoid what's already in the games, such as continuity discrepancies. The games are my only source of information, and I don't make up any information Nintendo hasn't revealed to us (my project on this forum is the exception to that last one).
-
In my Mario Time line, SM64 DS is canon (replacing the first version) and by that time, M&W have patched up.
-
Wario also does a bit of campaigning in his free time.[/img] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73cyng0m5oY)

some stuff
The problem here is that although the Mario games have continuity, there really is no official canon. There isn't anything that Nintendo says "didn't happen" or "retconned". The reason for this is so us fans can imagine it however we want, which is why "fanon" is the closest thing Mario will ever have to an actual cnon.
-
Well, yeah, Wario is a baby. And the reason why he's in SM64ds is because of the treasure. Well, that's what the site says.
-
The internet lies. Who knows? Wario could've been in it 'cause Mario jacked his peanut butter.
Seriously, he's in the game because of the castle's treasure? That just sounds too generic and unimaginative (this isn't directed at you, Wii-Player). I think Mario took some embarrassing photos of Wario in women's clothing while he was intoxicated, then threatened to upload them to the internet if Wario didn't help out.
That's just one way of looking at it. Wario's profile on the site was probably typed out by one dude. Who says he's the authority on all things Wario? I mean, it's not like I am either, but whatever.
-
Mario: Went for cake that Peach made for him.
Luigi: Went for Mario's cake, what an annoying little brother.
Wario: Went for Mario's cake, because he's too lazy to bake some himself.
Yoshi: Sleepin' on the roof.
"Helping out?" Nobody knew there'd be adventure involved.

IMO, SM64DS is no more canon than Super Mario All-Stars is, just a remake of a previous game. (Not to dis the quality of either)
And if you think about it, SML2 made much more sense than the first, and the gameplay was a lot closer to contemporary Mario titles on the SNES (Super Mario World, SMAS), even if the story was a bit "meh".

This is truly, truly awesome. :)
