In March 2008, 25 years after porting Donkey Kong (http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/dk-arcade) to the Atari 400/800 (http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/dk-a8), Landon Dyer recounted the experience in his blog (http://www.dadhacker.com/blog/?p=987). He also mentioned a secret in the game: "There's an easter egg, but it's totally not worth it, and I don't remember how to bring it up anyway." A few days ago, Don Hodges (http://donhodges.com/donkey_kong_easter_egg.htm) discovered that, with the right score and the right moves, you can make "LMD" (Landon Dyer's initials) display on the title screen. Visit the link below for the details.

This is very interesting and cool.

This is pretty boring and lame.

Hey, it's an old-school Easter Egg, back from when there weren't game credits.

While the Easter Egg itself is nothing special, Landon Dyer's blog post actually is a pretty interesting read about the development of old Atari games. If you dig deep enough you can even find the source code for Donkey Kong, along with many other Atari games, and see exactly what he was writing about.
Thanks for posting this, I wouldn't have seen this stuff otherwise.

Its like how if you use the "invisible item" easter egg in adventure, you get the creators name?
Too bad i dont have an 800/400.
