Who is Mario's greatest rival?
Is it Bowser, Wart  even Donkey Kong?

I think he means evilness.

Well,Tatanga is the shortest,so Bowser is the biggest.

Smithy. Bowser sure had a strange soft side (for the princess, anyway) that I think weakens him a little.

I don't think any baddies should be afraid of a thing as small as vegetables, so Wart is a definite No.

And Donkey Kong must spend tons of time sittin on his banana-loving ass watching the movie "King Kong" over and over again, so I doubt he works out much. Mario could be him in a minute.

Now Smithy...that's an opponent.

I would have to go with Bowser Koopa; not that I have anything against Wart or Tatanga.

Kamek-Actually, the Koopa King originally had political motives for kidnapping the princess.  The writers (if that's what you call the people who come up with story lines for video games) just repeated the kidnapping over and over, forgetting the original motive.  For the full story, read the "Princess kidnapping bit" thread.

Smithy, Bowser just seems like a bully more then an evil villian now adays. Maybe things will shape up in Gamcube.

I'd have to say that Smithy is the Mushroom Kingdom's greatest threat.  Bowser's no slouch either, the guy wants to rule TMK with an iron fist and enslave the mushroom people, but Smithy was hell-bent on leveling the place.  I'd say Smithy WAS (because he seems to have slipped into a blackhole since Mario RPG) the biggest Mario baddie, but good ole' King Koopa is just barely a step below Smithy as far as "evilness" is concerned.  Here's how I'd rank the Mario villians in order of most dangerous:

1. Smithy
1. King Bowser Koopa (Bowser and Smithy are tied)
3. Tatanga
3. Wario (Tatanga and Wario are tied, too)
5. Wart
6. Donkey Kong (Because he's old and gray now)
