I mean, Harmonix is making a Lego Rock Band. Alternately, Activision does love whoring out the Guitar Hero series by creating as many games as possible. With DDR Mario Mix on the table, I don't see why it's not a possibility.
And personally, I think it'd be an awesome concept anyway. After seeing Bowser breakdancing in DDR Mario Mix, I'm eager to see him shred a guitar.

/me wakes Chupperson and reminds him that this is only silly speculation and that hopefully it won't happen because people interested in Guitar Hero and people interested in video game music are practically two completely different groups.
-
/me has to admit that he actually would be rather interested in such a game, such as it is.
-
I'm with CE7. A Mario edition would probably be the only one that would be even a smidge likely to get me to touch a GH/RB-esque game.
-
I'm somewhat fond of RB as it is, and would greatly consider getting a Mario RB, actually. Props to CE7!
-
Just do Nintendo Hero and give me a game full of rock remixes of said music.

/me thinks we should go back to talking like this.

/me isn't really contributing to this thread as much as he wants to attempt this new-fangled /me command.
Back to FG's original proposition, the difference between, say, Lego Rock Band, and a Mario Rock Band is that the former is simply pasting adorable Lego minifigs into the existing Rock Band formula. Conversely, a Mario-themed Harmonix title would presumably include a library of remixed Nintendo anthems. Let's just pray that Nintendo doesn't catch word of this thread... Eeuuugh.
-
/me has no idea why people are suddenly talking in the third person.
Anyway, I like the idea of a Nintendo Rock Band, but I wouldn't buy it (seeing as the full guitar/drums set costs a ton of money, not to mention that it isn't really my type of game).
-
I guess you need to be into Rock Band to like the idea. If it isn't obvious, I play a ton of Rock Band, so it's all good.

/me realizes that ShadowBrain doesn't know about the /me command.
No, I know about it. I just... nevermind. Long live salmon-colored font and asterixes!
-
Yeah, I used to really like Rock Band but then I formed a real band.

I'd form a real band, but I got really good at a lame instrument, the Horn. I mean yeah I was accepted into the all-state and all-national bands, but it was for something no one cared about. I'm mildly good at trumpet too, so theoretically I could make a ska band. But I'm 20 now; my life is over.

But I'm 20 now; my life is over.
/me contemplates suicide
-
The horn is like the hardest thing to play ever, so I don't know how that could be lame. Also it sounds great. Too bad your life is over, though. I'm 22 and my life is just getting started.
-
I meant in terms of coolness potential, the horn is lame. I played it in jazz band for a few years, but not a lot of people are willing to accept a horn into a garage band kinda deal just because they wouldn't know how to fit it in. But if you're talking about orchestra stuff, then yeah the horn is basically like... it's the most epic instrument of all. Only problem is only musicians care about that, and pshhh, since when does anyone care what they think?
-
Eh, garage band, if you're playing standard boring rock then yeah, but why not create something new and exciting and unique instead?
-
Pfft, at least you played a large role in most of your pieces, Forest Bro. I played the tuba and loved it.... and I shattered the shallow belief that the prerequisite for playing tuba was to be fat. For some reason, people thought "LOL TUBARS ARE BIG SO THE PLAIERS MUST BE PHAT TOO!"
But.... the bullcrap with it was all our parts were backgrounds or support, of course. We did have some valve-rippin' solos throwing 16th and 32nd notes EVERYWHERE or we got the song started off surpassing epic proportions in the process, but other than that, it wasn't much. Also, I did like the fact that we out-ranged virtually all the brass instruments. (I'm speaking of the range of notes we could play, staff-wise. Correct me if I'm wrong, but being 8-10 ledger lines below the staff [for our typical F-tuned tubas and also nearing a sub-sonic state] or 7-8 ledger lines above the staff was definitely possible and sometimes required in select pieces.) That's some hella range. Of course, skilled players could and probably already have extended that range.
-
What the hell piece were you playing that callled for 32nd notes on a tuba? I've never seen 32nd notes on any brass instruments other than trumpets, and even then there were usually triplets or trills, rather than long runs.
-
Tuba players are nowhere near as phat as stand-up-bass players.
-
Yeah but no one notices that since they'll put on their best bass face at shows.
