So if I understand correctly, the glitch is:
- Start a 2 player game in Hard mode (and possibly on the Famicom version)
- Get Mario to 1-2 and kill him
- Get Luigi to 1-2
- Use the Minus World glitch as Luigi to get to World 5
- Get to 5-2
- Hit a vine block with a Hammer Brother near it
- Kill Luigi while he's on the vine
- Grab the vine that grows from the floor as Mario
- Hit one of the Buzzy Beetles against the left wall by climbing down on the vine near them
- Keep hitting the Buzzy Beetle until the life counter overflows

I have a feeling you don't have to use the Minus World glitch; they probably used it as a shortcut.
The Vine growing out of the ground blew my mind!

No, since they used it to get to World 5 instead of the normal 4/3/2. 3-1 has a Hammer Brother in it, but I don't think it can hit you while you're on a vine.

What I meant was, the wall glitch in 1-2 probably isn't required. If Luigi plays every level from 1-1 to 5-2 it'll probably still work, but the video would be much longer.
