I have a theory...
Origionly Wario was Mario's Identical twin... but then hey got struck by lightning.

Mabye he's a bit far from sanity and no doubt greedy but he's cool.

My theory is that Wario never knew Mario personally. Wario only knew Mario due to Mario's fame. Being insane as he is, Wario became obsessed with Mario and decided to become his own demented, perverse version of Mario.

IT all started a few decades ago. mario just dragged bowsers carcass back to the village tubby changed his name to wario becausehe wanted to be cool but noone liked him they locked him in a cave and when he finaly broke out  he had a hiddeus face and forrgot his other name
