Title: How Fast can you beat SMB1?
Post by: I_Am_Mario on March 16, 2002, 04:26:56 PM
Hey all, my name is Jason. For the past year I've been playing Super Mario 1, on the regular 8-bit system. One day I was like 'how fast can i beat this game?' So I tried. And tried. Right now I can beat the game (With warps) in 5:08. Yes, that's minutes and seconds. Does anybody else try this? If so let me know.....

If I take my time and get everything, and don't use warps, I can beat it in around 45 minutes (on a good day).

Born To Play:

"What if everything you see is more than what you see– the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn''t? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you''''ll find many unexpected things."

Insane steve...5:02? 4:58? are you serious? that's cool....how'd you do that? what are your times per board (in system seconds)? mine are:
1-1 370
1-2 346
4-1 340
4-2 377 up the beanstalk, 357 down to warp
8-1 200
8-2 344
8-3 242 (can get 243, but then i get fireworks)
8-4 310

Now these are my personal bests, i didn't acheive all of these times during my 5:08 run. if you can beat any of these times on the original 8-bit system (not snes or gb), let me know (how you did it).

Ya know, I forgot, so I will have to check someday....

Your times for 1-2, 4-1, and 8-4 look a tad slow.... I think those are where I gained the 6 seconds....Plus don't collect power-ups, it wastes time doing the animation.

If you think that's impressive, try doing a lap of Frappe Snowland in Mario Kart 64 in under 5.50 seconds.... that's right, 5 and a half sseconds... It can be done!
