Maybe he just happened to make it, then Baby Bowser purchased it, stole it, etc. I'm sure Professor Gadd sells these things in stores and such.

Oh you know what's weird, is today when I went to T.R.U. to get my copy of SMS, the front of the store looks like it says Toys R U, Skids R us. They shoved the two titles together too much. Heh.
