That's right...another forum RPG!
Storyline
---------
Few people in the days of the Mushroom Kingdom know about the Platinum Mushrooms, except for the Royal Family and some others. These magical mushrooms protected the Mushroom World from evil, giving immense power to the hero that is to protect it. Because of the Platinum Mushrooms, Bowser's many attempts to take over were in vain, as Mario always had this immense power.
One day, Bowser found out from Sorcerer-General Wart about the Platinum Mushrooms. Forming an alliance with the other evil forces, Bowser manages to, at night, steal one of the Platinum Mushrooms. At that same time, Ganondorf and other evildoers entered the Mushroom World, and collected one Platinum Mushroom for themselves...
Now, the Mushroom World is nothing but burned-down cities. The people have managed to escape to the safety of Earth; this includes Princess Peach and Mario. Now, it is time that all the forces against evil team up and restore the Mushroom World.

If none of these interest you, you may create your own character. Here are your boundaries:
Health - may not pass 140
Magic - may not pass 100
Strength - less than LTEagle's
Defense - may not pass 35
Speed - less than FoxMcBlur's
Wisdom - less than Elrohir's
Holiness - less than LTEagle's
Okay?

James Bond?
Anyway, where is the Mushroom Kingdom if not on Earth? It's an interesting premise... but there are some details that you seem not to know... hmm, well, maybe I'll participate in this later...
-
Are you Mario illiterate or what? The parents of Mario & Luigi sent them TO EARTH!!! The Mushroom World is located in an entirely different dimension (or universe if you want to call it that way).
Ummm....and someone please join?

I could ask you the same question. (Not the please join thing.) Who says they sent them to Earth? It certainly didn't say that in Yoshi's Island... The Mushroom World is either an alternate dimension OF Earth, or it's like Oz, an imaginary place on Earth. I would say it's an alternate dimension... how do you explain all the stuff in recent games that conforms to the standards of present-day Earth? That's how they got back to the MK so easily. (Citing the SMB manual.) It's too farfetched to say that The Mushroom World is another planet. It's Earth, all right.
-
Oh yeah, in SMS one of the Nokis says "What on Earth is going on?" HA!
-
Well, see, we refer to our world as Earth, when there are probably extra-terrestrials who also refer to their planet as Earth. Therefore, even with that I still will stick to my theory.
Ahhh whatever!!!! JUST SOMEONE FRIGGIN JOIN!!!!

How can anybody join a story that doesn't fit with the story it's supposed to be in?
There's a 99.999% chance people on other planets don't speak English. Mario lives on Earth, in one dimension or another. But I'm tired of arguing.
-
Could I do Legolas? He is from Middle-Earth, you know.
Oops! You said you could make your own character, so I'll do Legolas, very similar to Elrohir I must say:
Name: Legolas (Elf)
Health: 90
Magic: 130
Strength: 25
Defense: 15
Speed: 15
Wisdom: 55
Holiness: 30
Elements: Light/Grass
Weapon 1: Long Knife from Galadriel
Weapon 2: Galadriel's Bow (uses Arrows, starts with 20 Lorien Arrows)
Starting Spell: Arrow of Light. Uses 20 MP and 1 Arrow (when I say just Arrow without being specific, I mean any kind). 20 power Light spell.
Yes, the numerical stats are exactly the same as Elrohir's, but I'm not good at making those up, and besides, they sound similar to any Elf. I WAS thinking of using Gandalf (because I like Shadowfax), but like I said, I'm not good at making up stats for characters.

The only problem is... how did you get a guy from Middle-Earth (which was like 10,000 years ago or OK, really, I don't know when, but it was supposed to be a keckuva long time ago) to the present?
Yes, Mario lives in the present, when did you think he lived?
-
Chupperson, if you're going to keep asking obnoxious questions, we will have to cross swords.
They are both fictional, that's why. And it's also a free country, so I say whatever I want to.
Ya know what I think? I'm gonna probably delete this topic and move it to my own message boards. I'm not advertising...but at least there won't be any stupid questions asked there.

Whatever. I don't mean to cause trouble. I just like it better when people have their facts straight. No offense or anything.
-
Um, you can't delete it, and PLEASE DON'T MOVE IT TO THE SMFCMB (I'm not advertising, either)! We don't want the game to have just three people (Which are me, you, and Mace Windu)!
Oh, yes. In case you haven't figured it out already, Middle-Earth could be a remote place on Earth, so it could still exsist.
Also, they speak English there, but the English never descovered it. They call it the Common Speech instead.
One more thing, from what I said (Legolas could still be alive, you know?), I believe that Legolas is a valid choice.
Look, I didn't push it by saying "I'll be Cao Cao!" or "I'll be Pang Tong!" or "I'll be Lu Bu!" (now Lu Bu would be pushing it BIG TIME!), did I? In case you're wondering, they're powerful warriors (especally Lu Bu) from China back in the Three Kingdoms Era (basically from about 180 A.D. to about 240 A.D.).

Ok, I'll buy that... although I always thought it was somewhere in the general area of Europe... But yeah, Legolas COULD still be alive, I guess...

To MadMario:
Because of my new 'creation', I do not have time for forum RPGs. Therefore, you are hereby entitled to be the leader of the Party, and to carry on with the Storyline, if it ever begins. Farewell.

What?
-
Has to do with JavaScript. That's all I will say.
****! I'm no good with storylines! We gotta scrap this story!
-
I second the notion.
hehe
Anyway, this story made no sense from the beginning. Bye, story!

As of now, my JavaScript is NOT working. Also, I need to learn how to make the program remember your stats...and that means cookies. More books for me. Joy.
The following stats I am programming right now for use in the RPG:
Health: Obviously, when it's at 0, you die.
Flower Points: These are shared by the entire party. Used for the magic spells.
Star Points: Do NOT confuse these with Paper Mario's Star Points. These are used for the Special Attacks of each character, such as for Mario, Power Jump.
Strength: Determines how strong physical power is.
Defense: Determines how much you can prevent physical damage.
Wisdom: Determines "magic attack".
Holiness: Determines "magic defense".
Speed: The character with the fastest speed goes first.
Evasion: The higher this number, the higher your chances of evading enemy attacks.
Strike: The higher this number, the higher your chances of PowerHits (critical strikes).
Here is how the attacks are programmed.
For Physical:
damage = attack_power + strength - enemy_defense. Damage minimum is 1.
For Magic:
damage = magic_spell + wisdom / enemy_holiness. Damage minimum is 3.
And here's how I am making the chances of evasion and strike:
Basically, I tell the program to give me a random number from 0 to 1 (e.g. 0.532, 0.291, etc). Then that number is multiplied by 100. If this result is ABOVE your Evasion value, then the enemy attack hits. If the result is BELOW or EQUAL TO your Evasion value, then the attack misses. Same goes for Strike. Here's how it goes in JavaScript:
var eva_chance = Math.rand() * 100;
if (eva_chance > eva)
{
hp = hp-damage;
document.write('You were hit for ' + damage + ' damage');
}
if (eva_chance <= eva)
document.write('The attack missed')

Does this have something to do with this RPG, or just some thing you're working on?

It's his "creation", a game about Mario.
Note he said "JavaScript".
Click his profile to go to his site and see what's going on (or mine, doesn't matter).
