Waz up.start posts on whatever you want to post about.
-
Your name looks a lot like Salamando. That's the named signed at the bottom of the second message in the Dec. 16th Mailbag.
-
I want to talk about Starfox. That is all for now. :-D
-
Watoad are you my neighbor because the mailbag is the only reason he comes to this website.Ok the first topic is Starfox.Starfox is awsome and so is Falco. In super smash bothers melee they have the same moves on the same contols. What do you guys want to say about fox.And remember invite all your friends so this area gets popular.
-
I have met Salamando (online).
-
Uhh... what I want to say about Fox is that in SSBM he has the wrong voice, blue eyes, and whiskers. this is all incorrect. Falco's voice is wrong too, but that's not what I'm talking about. Fox is still cool in SSBM, but his SFA render is better. End of editorial. :-D
-
Falco on SSBm sunds like a french poet!I actually think Fox McCloud sounds good on SSBM.
King of Pink, That's Me!
-
In the parts where Steve Malpass is his voice, he sounds good. (Steve Malpass is Fox's voice in Starfox Adventures.) In the parts where that Japanese dude (I forgot his name) does Fox's voice, he sounds fat and phlegmish, in my opinion.
-
This is Salamando. I am the one that Watoad speaks of. I host the Nsider Trivia on weekdays. Do you know me, Salamandra? Watoad informed me that you had posted here, so I thought I'd check it out. Our names ARE similar, eh?
-
Hey, Salamando! It's nice to see you here! Maybe Salamandra will do some explaining when and if she (I'm assuming this person's female) sees your post. When she said, "the mailbag is the only reason he comes to this website," I figured she must know you. But you don't seem to know her. Strange. Very strange.
In case you have any doubt, let me tell you that I am indeed the one you know as mariobros. I posted a topic about this earlier, and it can be found at:
http://www.classicgaming.com/tmk/board/topic.asp?topic_id=70822&forum_id=1058
Talk to you later, either here or at the Nsider!
[For those of you who don't know, Nsider is the part of Nintendo.com that contains Nintendo's chat rooms.]
-
Watoad sorry for the mix up I talked to my neighbor and he told me his real username. Also im male,he not female, she.whats up salamandro. So do any of you guys like Kingdom Hearts or Fanal Fantasy X?
-
I would probably like them if not for the fact that I haven't played them. I wish Square would wise up and release them on GCN.
-
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is coming to the GCN, at least. The screen shots of that game look sweet!
-
I am not sure "wise up" would be my choice of words, but I think your point is clear.
In my opinion, I think it would be worse, if Square chose the GCN to be it's main console, as opposed to the PS2. Now, don't get me wrong, I own a GCN, and do not own a PS2. Also, I am a rather large Final Fantasy fan, however, from what I gather, the majority of FF fans do own PS2s, as it's already been established on the Playstation.
One could argue, however, that Final Fantasy has been established on Nintendo systems as well. However, it has been many years, 6 if I recall, since a Squaresoft came has been released on a Nintendo system. It has also been said that the two companies did not get along very well, and many of the newer fans have only been introduced to FF VII onward. No matter how much of a shame it is that these people had missed out on the higher quality Final Fantasies, spare VII, or the fact that they probably only care about the "awesome graphics," the majoirty of the current fanbase is in the mindset that FF is a Playstation series.
Many scoff at the fact that FF:CC will be released on the GCN, which I do not find justified. Nor do I find calling Square's decision to remain generally a Playstation company any more appropriate. But, this is just the ramblings of a disgruntled gamer. Feh.
As for liking Final Fantasy X, I DEFINITELY liked it, that is, if I was to like unorigional characters, plot, mediocre voice acting, and a re-hash of the [terrible] junctioning system of FFVIII. Not to mention the graphics. Oh my, were they ever excellent. Now if only I could be like the other half of the crowd and actually care about them. It seems Square is drifting to the level of many other companies, where Graphics become the number one priority.
Why, one person in my school wouldn't play Final Fantasy Tactics because of its "poor" graphics. That is exactly the mind-set I'm opposed to. That particular person is missing out on an astonishing game. Just because it doesn't run 100,000,000 polygons a second, or a few hour long summons, it's probably better than any game released in the last two or even three years. However, I digress.
Also, I prefered Star Fox's Japanese voice in SSBM. If you ask me, I'd say, in general, Japanese voice actors are much more talented than English ones. But, this is coming from a huge anime fan. So, meh.
----I'd like to say these are all my opinions. If you disagree with them, tough bannanas. Feel free to disagree with them, I don't mind. Hell, even express your opinion on them, or even debate. I don't care. However, if I offended you, because you tend to cater towards graphics in games, that's too bad. You deserve what you get. (Not that there is anything too offensive in there) Good day.-------
-
Well, I'm an abnormally large fan of SFA, so I prefer Steve Malpass's voice over ... that Japanese dude who I forgot his name. But then, Malpass isn't American.
That's not to say I don't like the Japanese guy's Fox voice, he's fine for grunts and yells and stuff, but when he says "Mission complete," he sounds like he's from the Bayou. And Falco says Mission compRete.
What's really scary, is I think I'm developing a Lylatian accent.
This is "anything you want to talk about", right? Well... my hair is about three feet long. Heheh.

Black Mage and Chupperson, you guys gave me quite a chuckling. I don't think anything you said is stupid or unreasonable, but in certain ways it's funny. Let me explain . . .
Black Mage gives this huge explanation on his thoughts of Final Fantasy, Square, PlayStation, etc. After that are just three short sentences about Star Fox. Then Chupperson replies by saying, "Well, I'm an abnormally large fan of SFA . . ." and doesn't even TOUCH the subject of Final Fantasy. That's funny!
The other thing that got me going is what Black Mage said: "Just because it doesn't run 100,000,000 polygons a second, or a few hour long summons, it's probably better than any game released in the last two or even three years." I understand what he’s getting at, but the sarcasm is funny (in other words, it's good)! Especially great is "a few hour long summons"—we all love those, don't we!
Chupperson, you're the one pictured at the URL below, right? My hair is pretty short. I have thought that it'd be neat to try growing it out nice and long, but it'd also be a hassle to clean, comb/brush, and such.

Black Mage, I agree with your views entirely. Unfortunatly for people like us, the world's gone shallow. Here is an example: A promo for a new show on ABC (I saw it during the Super Bowl)
---TYPED WITH PLENTY OF RAGE, HAMMERING ON THE KEYBOARD, PRETTY MUCH---
"He has an IQ of over 180..."
"She is a world-class musician..."
"He has 4 Gold med---
SO WHAT???????????????
Is she HOT? Is he HOT?????? Are YOU hot?
Welllllll, so in other words, unless you look good, no matter how intelligent, talented, or athletic you are, you're a waste of a human life, according to ABC.
WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT ABC????????????? I GUESS THAT MAKES ME A WASTE OF A HUMAN LIFE THEN. AND I AM D@MN PROUD TO BE A WASTE OF A HUMAN LIFE BY YOUR CRAPPY STANDARDS!!!!
ABC is now offically on my "10 most hated People, groups, things, or companies" list. Maybe even in the top 5.
All I am saying is, the world's gone shallow. There's no room for non-shallow people like me.
FIGHT THE SHALLOW REVOLUTION!!!!! (As futile as it may be)
Everyone has their own opinions, no matter how WRONG they are.
-
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. You will become one with the collective.
Okay, forget that. I agree, the world has hopelessly lost view of stuff that really matters, in real life and in the game industry.
Ya want shallow? How about that dippy Shania Twain and her idiotic song! I can't stand that epitome of shallow thinking!!!!
I neglected to say anything about Final Fantasy, because I haven't played any of the PSX/PS2 games, and I've only played Final Fantasy II(IV) and III(VI?) for SNES. I know virtually nothing about Final Fantasy games. There's nothing I can really say. I can say a heckuva lot more about Star Fox.
And yeah, that's me in that picture, about a year ago, I think.

The Borg are the best enemies in Star Trek in my opinion.
Big cities attract shallow people, and the media is located in those big cities. The media has a wide influence; most or all of what you guys are talking about either IS the media or is directly affected by it.
One thing we can do to prevent ourselves from becoming shallow and hollow is help people who are that way to cease being so, in any way we can, rather than condemn them for it.
To be me is to be devoid of Special Powers.
-
Most shallow people I know try to condemn me for not being shallow. And they freak out when I speak with a British accent.
I write poetry when I`m not looking.
-
Yes, they do that. It's a part of being shallow. But condemning them back doesn't help.
To be me is to be devoid of Special Powers.
-
True, true.
So, you like Star Trek?
I write poetry when I`m not looking.
-
Yes, I do. I've seen an amazing number of episodes and movies for someone who doesn't label himself as a "Trekkie" or a "Trekker." The reason I've seen so much Star Trek is that my older brother, who has since gone off to college, was a huge fan, and I usually watched it with him. (My dad likes the show as well.) I pretty much stopped watching when he moved out, which was after Deep Space Nine ended and when Voyager was somewhere in the middle of its life. When my bro was here during Christmastime 2002, though, we watched Star Trek: Nemesis together. I like those Next Generation movies.
Subject-wise, we have jumped all over the place in this thread. That's what happens in most threads. But it's a good thing here because the topic is "Anything you want to talk about."
-
Yes, this is even stranger than the Mario Bar.
Anyway, I think I'd call myself a Trekker, because I have on tape every episode of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise, and almost all of the original series, all the movies except First Contact (which I, sadly, haven't seen yet,) every issue of Star Trek: The Magazine, plus many, many action figures...
So, was Nemesis good? I haven't gotten a chance to see that one yet either...
That's the one thing you can really get me started talking about besides Star Wars, LotR, and Nintendo games: Star Trek.
Oh yeah, and I've been to the Trek Expo convention here in town many times as well. I even helped Robert Picardo remember the name of a Voyager episode he was talking about. He couldn't remember which one it was, so I got up and yelled "NOTHING HUMAN!" and then he was like "Oh, yes, thank you, that's right..."

Wow, that is amazing on multiple levels.
You have A LOT of Star Trek. The sheer number of episodes you have recorded and other things you own is impressive.
Beyond that, it's rather astounding that you have all this, are totally into Star Trek, and haven't seen First Contact. It is usually said to be the best of the Next Generation movies. I put it this way because I'm not sure I like it better than the others. It is a great movie, though. It has some funny parts, the action is sweet, and there are some parts in it that are just plain neat. You need to see it.
Nemesis is also good. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it. However, if you have a choice to see either it or First Contact, I suggest you choose First Contact.
Now I must ask: which do you like better, Star Trek or Star Fox?
That's interesting. I also really like Nintendo, The Lord of the Rings,* Star Trek, and Star Wars. (In that order? I'm not sure.)
*I'm more a fan of the books than of the movies, but I enjoy them both.

Geez, that's a hard question. I've been a fan of Star Trek since before I was born (don't ask me how), and yet I am completely enamored with Star Fox (for the time being, at least). I don't think I like either of them better than the other, but I do like the Star Fox games better than the Star Trek video games. Although the 25th anniversary game for NES is pretty cool...
Another strange thing is, I know a good deal about First Contact, the story, characters and everything, and yet, have never had a chance to see it.
...Wait, I did, but I was 11 (I think) then, and very cautious about PG-13 movies.

By the way, my brother went with a friend of his and my dad to a Star Trek convention in Sacramento a long time ago. Featured at that particular one were Jonathan Frakes and Terry Farrell.
-
I met Peter Mayhew at this one once... that dude is HUGE.
I met Frank Gorshin too...

Isn't Chewbacca (played by Peter Mayhew) a Star Wars character?
-
Yes, they have people from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Andromeda, Babylon-5 and other Sci-Fi shows there every year. Not to mention a huge array of merchandisers.

-
Is your town large? More like a city? These Trek Expo conventions sound like big operations (and experiences).
-
Well, yeah, it's Tulsa, second largest city in Oklahoma...
I write poetry when I`m not looking.
-
I may be older than you are, but you probably know more than I do. Tulsa is just a name to me, either one of which I've never heard or simply about which I've never learned anything. One thing I can do, as the last sentence shows, is write sentences that don't end with prepositions. But, if you ask me, doing that can make them sound worse sometimes. I think the "of which" and "about which" are annoying. This is even worse:
"A preposition at the end of a sentence is something up with which I shall not put."
– Some scholarly guy who didn't like prepositions at the end of sentences; I don't remember his name.
Oftentimes, I intentionally end a sentence with a preposition because I think it sounds better that way.
How's that for changing the subject?
-
Talk like Yoda, I shall.
Easy, it is.
...I read Data died in Nemesis. I shall be quite sad if I must see this.

That's why you've gotta watch the movie first and read the reviews and spoilers after.
-
It's the official magazine... for cryin' out loud...

-
I don't blame ya anyway. Without reading reviews or spoilers myself, I knew that a main character was going to die before I saw the movie (I would rather not have, though). If it helps, Data dies a very noble death. He is not just wasted like an unknown ensign.
