Title: Mario speaks English?

Does Mario say the same thing in Japan?  I mean, no that he has a voice since Super Mario 64, he always speaks English.  So do Peach, Luigi, Toad, Wario... I don't know what the hell Yoshi is saying, but Would Japanese people understand all the "Let's a-go!" and "Okey Dokey!"?  I don't know... Maybe Japanese people speak more English than American people speak Japanese... Can someone point me in the right direction?

On my Japanese Mario Kart 64 CD Most characters speak English...Each character has a voice/vocal noise track on the CD.
