Post by: jon on June 07, 2003, 09:03:17 PM
Ok, anyone can come to this club, which will be the other main club, I guess in General Chat(check out Club '86, the people are friendly and they forgive you...sorry Marionut(your right, my wrong), and just put up Mario stuff that you drew(like fan art and such so other people can talk about it.

Yeah! The Club '86 rules! Go 86ers! Wooo!!
Besides, we already have enough Club/Bar/Restaurant/etc non-topic hang-out places.

I know, I just wanted to see some new Mario pictures. Fan art looks cool. I wish I knew how to put in my pictures...
Oh, and I still dislike Club '86-that is, if it has Mario stuff in it(jon loves Mario stuff^_^)

Yes, but most of those place have general topics.  I think he wants this one to be specific Mario Stuff.  After all this is a Mario site.  I'm not an 86er so I don't post you Club 86 much anyway.  And, the Bar has become a poetry club.  I want somewhere to talk about Mario.  Allthough, The Mario Stuff Club should be in General Mario chat not the general chat.

Still you dont have to insult the club...turn on your speakers and go to the first and second to last page..

I'm with Luigison-there's poetry in the bar, and I'm not an 86er. I think I will forget about this thing and put a real Mario thing in the Mario section. It would probably (now) be the best club in that section. Mario, Mario, Mario. If you dare say Pika Pika!, then, you have no idea what a Mario fan is(unless you hate Pokemon).

I'm game.

Here's the last piece of fan art that I've done:

It's the Brothers Mario, with Yoshi and Peach, stopping to admire the view from Star World on their trip back from a victorious encounter with Bowser.

EDIT - and now it shouldwork...

Never mind-it works.

IT--------LOOOOOOOOKKKKKKSSSSSSS--------SSOOOOOO----------CCCOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
You should help me make backgrounds for the Mario cartoons I make^_^.
You are one good artist. Anyone who comes here can see your great talent.
Definetly keep up the awesome work!

I saved it on to my computer just in case the message board deletes it. Don't worry, I will never claim it as mine, I think I might use it as wallpaper-it's that good!
Ok, ok, I didn't save it because I need your permission. I promise I won't abuse it or do anything bad to it, I promise.

^^ No, I don't mind if you save it.  But if you're planning to use it as wallpaper, I've got a better-quality version here.

I'm glad you like it!

Ok, now that as a wallpaper on my computer screen looks pretty darn good. But how is the size 2MB? Did you scan it? Well, whatever, no matter what size, it still looks awesome! A nice, peaceful night with an awesome background! You even drew the characters perfect! I like how you did Yoshi and his eggs, you are a talented artist.

Does anyone here have sprites of an ice block and/or fireballs for SMAS?  If so, can you either put it here or email to dr_shows@yahoo.com

Thanks

Wow. That is *AWESOME*, Fifth! ^_^ I absolutely LOVE that pic!! You're good!

Man...now I wish I had a scanner, so I could show off *my* Mario artwork. *Sniffle* I want to be able to do Mario computer art... Fansprites are about the closest I've come...

Oh yeah, I can provide you with an iceblock sprite, Luigison! I actually just recently ripped it. ...Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the background transparent yet, but oh well. Anyhoo, I'll email it to you. Enjoy! ^_^

Well, I don't know if you have it, but you can try Paint-the Windows program. I can draw SOMETHING on it. The only problem with it is that when you draw lines on it, it's hard to do with the computer. I made cartoons with Paint and Movie Maker, and I'llshow some of my work-but I don't know how to get it up on these Message Board things.
If anyone knows how, can I e-mail something to you and have you put it up? I just don't know how to do it.

I have Paint, but it's really cruddy to work with in doing stuff like Fifth's kind of artwork. What I need is Paint Shop Pro. I LOVE that program--not only does it work REALLY well (I have a few test artworks I've done on it--they look GOOD, IMO), but it lets you EASILY convert bitmaps into gifs, jpgs and pgns--*WITHOUT* distorting the image! ...And easily make a transparent background.

But alas, it was only a 30-day trial when we first got our computer. Then *SNAP* they take it away from you once you get hooked. Now it'll cost me 75+ moolahs for me to get it. *Sniffle* How cruel is that!?

I know, I had that Paint Shop Pro and it left me too. But I still draw on Paint until I get a Drawing Pad, which will be when a new one comes out that works for Windows XP. Then I'll be drawing on this computer like I draw on paper(which is pretty good-I just can't draw backgrounds like Fifth).

Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: jon on June 08, 2003, 02:08:32 PM
Really!?! I've found nothing. But I found a good website where you can download just about anything you want. It's called zdnet.com. If you go there, at the top, go to downloads. Then type in what you're looking for and it will give you a whole bunch of different brands on the same thing-like I typed in Paint Shop Pro and it gave me that and a whole bunch of other downloadable things. The only problem with that site is that the products you can download are mostly only trial versions, but they're still easy to install+uninstall if you don't like them.

Hey, I downloaded a icon maker from that site and I can make cool Mario icons! If you want, you could let me e-mail them to you? I've only done bad guys and power-ups though. I'll draw Mario, Luigi, and the rest of them later.

Does anyone here know how to make the white in the following sprite transparent?

Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: Sapphira on June 08, 2003, 03:56:15 PM
Open the file up via Paint. Then go to Attributes. Depending on your Paint program, you might be able to have the option of "Transparent Background."  If you have it, click on it and change it to white.

White and Black are the two colors that it'll let you use no prob. Having a COLORED background is the tricky part... I have no idea if it'll work on bitmaps, though. It may only work on gifs.

Anyway, if your Paint program DOESN'T have that option, then I can't help you. Unless...you have Paint Shop Pro... *sigh*
The comp (new) I'm on doesn't have that option, but our old one does.

*Sigh* the irony is cruel. I have both a scanner AND Paint Shop Pro, as well as anything else needed to make Mario art, but alas, I don't have the talent to do so (yet). I'd LOVE to learn someday, though. I do, however, leave you with this piece of art someone from my RuneScape forum I go to drew for me:

This was done on Abode Photoshop 7.

Fifth, that is amazing. I mean, really, really amazing. Nicely done.

Marionut, did you get my e-mails? I sent 2 of icons because I don't think the first one worked and I sent you a thing for your "Star-Spangled Luigi" thing you said in the Interview. If you can't put that up in these message boards, tell me.

Yes jon, the icons worked great, theyre cool btw..but however I dont have the right program for the star spangled banner thingie..so I cant open it...what is it anyway? could it be put in a word document or what program do I need?

Well, it's a document from Wordperfect. I knew you couldn't really open it. I just liked that Luigi thing you wrote in the interview so much I had to do something with it.
Hey, since you're here, I thought I'd tell you the interview is going on. Be Luigi, the Italian...Mama Mia^_^

Hey, I was wondering how you make sprites. I like making Mario stuff on my computer and showing it to people. Aren't they like GIF'sor something because I can download a GIF program...
Oh, and how do you get pictures to show in these Message Boards? I want to show some stuff I did on Paint...
Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: Marionut#1 on June 08, 2003, 08:41:06 PM
Personally I hate Gifs when spriteing because it totally screws up the colors...I personally prefer using .BMP format..its easier and Im an expert at it...where would I get this Wordperfect program...?

It‘s-a me, Marionut#1!
Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: jon on June 08, 2003, 08:49:55 PM
Well, wordperfect is from corel, so you can try that. Or you can go to zdnet.com like I mentioned earlier and find something there. If you want a program where you can type up documents, then get it. Otherwise, then downloading something over 100MB is useless. You should probably find it at a store or something.
How can you put sprites together with .bmp format?
Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: Marionut#1 on June 08, 2003, 09:03:15 PM
Personally I just use regular paint...ya I might not be able to add special effects..and editing sprites from SMRPG is a butt, but its way easier for me in Paint's .BMP format

It‘s-a me, Marionut#1!
Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club

Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: Marionut#1 on June 08, 2003, 09:14:58 PM
I cant answer that question because I know nothing about GIFs except that they really screw up a picture...

Well, I'll figure it out. Got any artwork you want to put up here, OR can you tell me how to put up MY artwork?
Title: Re: The Mario Stuff Club
Post by: Black Mage on June 09, 2003, 05:34:48 AM
Quite simply, if you want to animate Gifs, the program I use is Ulead Gif Animator. I don't recall the version, as it's on the other computer, but I know you can get the trial version off of Downloads.com, or check various warez sites to get the whole version. Maybe Kazaa has it, I haven't checked. However, it's pretty self-explanatory once you get the program.

As for showing your own artwork, first you must find a web space provider, be it geocities, or homestead, or what not; there are plenty out there. After which, you then upload your image and then place the URL in an HTML code; <img src="URL"> and check that "Use HTML in your message" box below. Not too difficult.

Or if you prefer, you can send something to me and I can upload it for you.

Get UnFREEz at http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/

UnFREEz is a high-speed Windows application that will take any number of images, saved as separate GIF files, and create a single animated GIF from those images. What makes this program unique from its competitors? First and foremost, UnFREEz is freeware, which means you may use it forever without paying a cent or feeling the slightest bit guilty. Secondly, UnFREEz is incredibly tiny, meaning you don't have to spend forever downloading an extremely bloated piece of software. Finally, it is so easy to use. Just drag and drop some GIF files from Explorer, set the frame delay time, and hit Make Animated GIF. UnFREEz will take care of the rest, including automatic interlacing and transparency detection. So download UnFREEz now and try it out for yourself! If you like it, keep it; it's free! This program is written in non-MFC Win32 C++, and should not need any additional files to run.

But, whatever. It's good. I'll check it out!
Hey, why can I suddenly use HTML(even though I don't know how to use it) in all the Message Board sections? I can use HTML in Storyboards!
Oh, and does anyone know of a good program that compresses images? My files are like 500+ KB per image! I'm putting them up on a site(that I'm going to make over vacation) and I need major help! I want to put in pictures/downloadables, but the stupid Geocities web builder won't let you put in most files! Plus, I need image, sound compressors! Does anyone know of any compressors?

Thanks a bunch, Luigison! Man, 3 days left until schools out! Then I have like, 3 months to do my site!
Oh, It's geocities/mariotendo.com or something like that. I have to go check again when I'm out of school. Right now(if it's working), it's just a picture from Super Mario Sunshine, which I'm definetly taking out! I 'll make my own background thing if Luigison finds any compressors.
