Title: If no one watches the Pokemon T.V. show, why is it still on the air?

They even got new episodes. They suck.

Because people DO watch it. It's just a different kind of audience than the people who visit TMK.
The reason the show keeps going on, is because nintendo wants to milk the pokemon money cow dry before people totally can't stand it anymore.

The world would be a much cleaner place if people would eat their own trash.

Here it is spring 2K4, and while I used to really like this show, I feel that, after the 4th season, it started to slide downhill.  Adventures are taking longer than they used to earlier in the series.  One of the main characters has been replaced.

I stopped watching around the beginning of the Johto season because I knew it would just be a bunch of episodes surrounding the new creatures. I liked the episodes that centered around the events in the video game, like the gyms.

I can't stand characters that come from nowhere (ex: what's-his-name that replaced Brock).  That's why I also don't like the Kirby TV series (because of extra characters).  There's probably more than enough characters in the games themselves to create a decent show.

Ok, I know the Pokemon show isn't good anymore, but don't badmouth Kirby! Sure, Escargo is new, and maybe a few others, but they improve the show because they don't always involve the characters you're used to. A lot of the characters are from Kirby Super Star, and a lot of the abilities are from Kirby('s Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland), so if you haven't played any of those, it's no wonder. Really, not many of the characters aren't in the game anyway.

Do the Mario! Swing your arms from side to side, come on, it''s time to go do the Mario! Take one step, and then again, let''s do the Mario all together now! You got it! It''s the Mario! Do the Mario! Swing your arms from side to side, come on, it''s time to go do the Mario! Take one step, and then again! Let''s do the Mario altogether now! Come on now! Just like that!

I'm not trying to badmouth Kirby!, I just want to express my opinion on the T.V. show that the topic originally brought up (Pokémon).

I agree. The only characters in the Kirby cartoon that actually have to do with the game are King Dedede, random enemies, Meta-Knight, Chef Kawasaki, and Kirby of course. Everything else is unnecessarily stupid and pointless. Tiff and Tuff are some of the most annoying characters from a cartoon ever. Man, why do the anime producers have to ruin every show they get their hands on?

Kirby and Pokemon aren't Anime, they are Japanimation.

Anime is much more violent and action like and not for kids.....Well, most. DBZ is a great example of an anime that has been seriously butchered by Cartoon Network's Toonami.

Well, I don't see why you dislike the added characters, I mean, if a new show comes on (let's just say Spongebob, whether you like it or not), are you just not going to like it because you don't know any of the characters? I mean, the Kirby show added characters, yet so many plots did center around already Kirby characters (now I can tell no one here's played Kirby Superstar). I mean, when you really think about it, it's not like Kirby has the "widest variety" of characters. I understand if you don't like it just for... whatever, but I will get angry if it's just because of the added characters.

Can anybody predict how much longer this show is going to run?  If they keep finding new things to try and attract viewers, it might run several years longer than "The Simpsons" or "Cheers" (in its 16th season, and 11 seasons from 1982-1993, respectivley).

Do the Mario!, what I mean is that Spongebob is an original show.  Therefore, if new characters are added, so what?  Now with the Kirby show, the characters are SUPPOSED to be from the game, but sometimes, they're not.  Also, a lot of the characters are from the game as you said, but somewhat twisted to fit the show.  Get what I mean?

BTW, what difference would it make if the show was dubbed by some other company (DiC, Funamation, etc)?

Well, I'm saying that you can just think of Kirby like a new show but just imagine as if all the characters from Kirby were just added in there. I mean, if you think of it differently that way, than I've pretty much made my point. If not, meh, I don't think I can convince you. =/

Ok, lets get back on topic...
What I was talking about in my last post, was that I wanted to know about any differences that the Pokémon TV show would make if it was dubbed by some other company.  Whenever I use a generic-sounding word, I mean it as it relates to the original topic post.

probably a little different, but not much. But still a lot different from the Japan version. I heard that with some episodes, they even rewrite the whole story. I wish I knew Japanese...

I believe that if some other company dealt with a Pokémon TV show, they would probably make big changes to the characters (like DiC did with Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda)

Oh, and another thing.  When the main group went into the Orange Islands, Brock left to work with [Brock doesn't want to hear that name], and Tracey took his place, but Brock came back before Johto.  Before Ash started Hoenn, Misty left to go back to Cerulean, and a new trainer in Hoenn, May, took over.
According to TV Tome:
OFFICIAL NEWS!
Kids WB! has CONFIRMED that season 7 of Pokemon WILL air as part of their 2004-2005 season fall schedule. Kids WB! will air a confirmed 52 episodes for season 7, Saturdays at 10am.
It seems as this show has no ending to it. It also looks like the Hoenn adventure will take twice, maybe three times as long as Johto did. As of May 2004, there are already 355 epiosdes in Japan.

How dare you tell me I've never played Kirby Super Star! Don't assume things that you have no factual data to back it up with. I own the game and have had it since I was a wee little kid.

Even though many enemies from the game are in the cartoon, they give them different names and make up ridiculous plots for the characters.

It seems like the better parts of the Pokémon show center around the remarks in Red Paratroopa's first post in this thread. More and more, the gap number of episodes between gym battles increases.
Because of this, and many other factors, I have stopped watching the show several weeks ago.

I believe the show would have gone downhill a long time ago if it were dubbed by DiC or Funamation.  While I have not seen any Funamation shows, I've seen and liked several DIC cartoons in my life (Sabrina, Mario World, SMB3, Sonic, Archie's Weird Mysteries, The Littles, etc, etc.)

I have always hated Power Rangers.  I mean, this might not seem like a good enough reason, but Power Rangers is the reason that the Saturday Morning Sonic cartoon got cancelled!  Yep, the piece of !@#$ that was Power Rangers couldn't even compare to the great Sonic cartoon, and they cancelled Sonic in favor of it anyway!  That is why I hate ABC's Saturday morning programming!  Because they lost me as a viewer after they pulled the most blatant screwjob in Saturday Morning cartoon history!
I was only 7-8 at the time, but I knew ABC had just screwed me, and I would never watch them again until Recess was created.  And then when Recess ended its run, I said "Screw ABC" and found the Fox Box to be much better.  They may have some crappy shows, but at least they are smart enough not to replace their most popular cartoon (Sonic X) with crap ( Cramp Twins)  And the sad thing is, Power Rangers is still on TV on ABC!!!  That ticks me off, because Sonic could have had at least one more season had it not been for those idiots' decision to screw all the Sonic fans by cancelling Sonic in favor of &^%%(%#@ Power Rangers!!!

I really had to get that off my chest after holding it in for 10 years.

There's this one episode of Pokemon where Ash goes to this place with Charizard that has a bunch of other Charizards and ASh's Charizard loses and stuff, but at the end he's allowed inside to train with them while Ash runs away and that's the end.  My question is, What happens to Charizard?  That episode was so sad!  Is there a part 2 episode of that one?  If so, what happens?  And what did Charizard do at the end?  Did he join the Charizards on the mountain, or what?

The show would be better if they'd kill Team Rocket. They always do the same thing and never learn from it when they lose, it gets repetitive. It should just be Team Aqua and Magma.
Also to Markio, Charizard has popped up quite a few times since he was left behind, Pokemon: The Movie 3, the gym battle with Claira, and The Johto Leauge championship fights just to name a few.

Power Rangers kicks Glutemous Maximus. It wasn't entirely there fault Sonic got squashed by better competition.

There can't be a Napolean Dynamite 2, unfortunately... The actor of Napolean... died.

Got Bird? <(^v^)>

I thought that was just a rumor!  Is there a site I can get info about this on?

I''ve said my piece, now I''m off to some hardcore SSBM action!

What exactly are you trying to say Bird Person? It is possible to capture all the legendaries in the game. If you're speaking of the very rare ones like Mew Celebi, and Jirachi... well there is always Game Shark.

And for the last freakin time, Jon Heder (Napoleon) Did Not Die! It was all a rumor started by Thilo at ninjapirate.com! I can't believe people are still stupid enough to believe it.

One more thing: seems marioassistant was right all along. I found 2 potentially gay characters on Pokemon:

And the more obvious one:

Hey I'm still a fan and I still get up eveyr Saturday morning to watch and record the anime. Sure it's repetitive, but I still think it's cute. It's hardly one of my most favorite anime, but I still watch it. The movies are worlds better though with much more dymnamic stories and my most favorite Pokemon, Legendaries! I'm looking foward to seeing the 8th movie, "Mew and the Wave-Guding Hero--Rukario."

Still I much prefere the games. I loved Ruby and Sapphire and I think it's the best generation so far. I' hoping to get a DS before Pearl and Diamond comes out. So there.

I'd like to watch it, but Sky puts it on at 5 in the morning, and there's no way that I'm getting up that early.

Jman: Oh! Maybe it is a rumor! I heard it, but I'm pretty gullible!

Oh, dear Lord. Eight movies? EIGHT?

Somehow I have a Mew on the blue version. One of my not-so-much-friends gave it to me. Then he said it was a virus from virus.com that was going to light my GameBoy on fire. I laughed.

Yes, eight movies. And chacnes are there'll be a ninth movie. I'm looking foward to seeing the new Pearl/Dimond legendary Rukario than Mew.

Don't be so hard on the series. I like the cartoon as much as I did when I was young.
I am still a huge fan of Pokemon. Probably the only fans who still like Pokemon are Latias Dita and me.

I definitely don't mind it, but I haven't seen anything except the original Kanto stuff.

I am currently playing FireRed, by the way.

The new season is much better than the 3 year crapfest that was Johto. Maybe it's the fact that most of the episodes now actually matter. Or maybe because they got rid of Misty and brought in the better, easier on the eyes and ears May.
