i need your expertise everyone!...What were all the Mushrooms in Super Mario bros...What did they do and where did you encounter them?...

Super Mushrooms came out of set "? Blocks" in Super Mario Bros. Getting one made Mario/Luigi grow bigger into Super Mario/Luigi. There are also 1-Up Mushrooms which give you an extra life. In Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan), there were Poison Mushrooms which took away one health stat, reverting Super/Fiery Mario/Luigi back to regular Mario/Luigi, and regular Mario/Luigi would lose a life.

The evil looking mushrooms walking around were "goombas."  They are enemies, and hurt Mario if he touches them.  Mario can kill goombas by stomping on them or hitting them with fireballs.

Also, some levels had giant, platform-like mushrooms which Mario could stand on.  These were basically...well, platforms.

The Mushroom Kingdom is filled with fungus!

Was there a red mushroom and a red with yellow polka dot mushroom?...

The Super Mushroom I desribed is the Red Mushroom in the Mario Bros. games after Super Mario Bros. 2, but before that they were Yellow with Red Dots on them. So, both of your desriptions are the Super Mushroom, just at different times.

Also, don't forget that in SMB/SMB2j, the green 1-UP Mushrooms were green with yellow dots.

No, the 1-Up Mushrooms were Yellow with Green Spots.
