Title: Microsoft: Friend or Foe of Nintendo?
Post by: Jake on November 09, 2003, 08:02:05 AM: Everybody says that Microsoft is trying to bring Nintendo down. It isn't true. Let me tell you all some consle history:

Xbox
Xbox was created by people who work for Microsoft, not Bill Gates. In fact, he was having second thoughts about it. It could of tarnish the company. But thank god, it didn't. It actually did quite succesfull. Now, let me tell you about the orgin of the PS2.

PS2 and PS1 (I'm sure Killa already knows this)
Long ago, Nintendo had plans for a SNES CD-Rom system. They were have help from Sony and Phillips. The idea was later cancelled, and the Big N just decided to let Phillips make Nintendo games for there ill-fated CD-i system. Meanwhile, that gave Sony the idea to make there own system. The Playstation (which was much later remade into the PS1). Few years later, came the PS2.

Also, Microsoft is making some games or the GBA. One of them is a truck game, and the other one is Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. Also, why do you think Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft instead of Sony? There you have. While Sony is the Big N's true enemy, Microsoft is sort of a friend.

Why did you post this? Don't look at me. I'm not sending you any Money.

You say Microsoft is not trying to bring Nintendo down. You think this even though Microsoft has repeatedly lost court cases over its near monopoly with the Windows OS and unfair buisness practices. I think they would love to corner that market on video games and either put Nintendo out of business or maybe even have Nintendo make games for them.

The only thing I have for Xbox is a hammer.

Post by: nintendo is sorry on November 09, 2003, 04:45:03 PM: I think that Nintendo sold Rare because of money,also.Besides,they needed it at the time.GameCube sales were low.Nintendo needed to sale Rare to continue GameCube production.As for Microsoft being Nintendo's friend,that's crazy!Microsoft owns the market of computers and computer gaming.Xbox had more sales than GameCube when it first came out.I feel Microsoft is huge threat to Nintendo.So is Sony.Sony not only makes video games,they make T.V's,VCR's etc.Nintendo is really living off their GBA.Maybe we can start out fresh next Christmas when the N5 comes out...

In fact, it would had been impossible anyway...
That's because Nintendo used to only own almost half of the company, how do you think RareWare had its own published titles?
When Nintendo sold what they owned of RareWare to RareWare itself...
Microsoft spotted oppertunity to hunt!
Microsoft didn't buy RareWare just like that! They only considered it when they realised that Rare's titles had hit the Nintendo 64's Top Games List so many times...
They thought with Rare's titles on the X-Box, they can benefit!!
So Microsoft, a company that usually makes more money than Nintendo, bought the whole of RareWare with a price that is MORE THAN ENOUGH!!

Frankly, I do not believe that Microsoft are really putting Nintendo out of business. Bill Gates just saw that the video game console industry a great market to put to the test, therefore comes the X-Box.
Microsoft just wants to put more competition in the industry.
And they seem to be intense at that...

Yeah, I mean, I play computer games sometimes and I use other things like Windows XP, but not his VIDEO game system. He needs to stick to making computers or whatever he does and not try to make video game systems that he only compares to supercomputers.

Sony's PS2 is of the past and sucks, miserably. Have you ever played Bushido Blade? It's a PS2 game, yeah, watching the intro makes a look like a good game, but take a look at the game itself. It SUCKS more than anything. The SNES or even NES was looking better than that game.

What about Burnout? Awesome game on the GCN, but not the PS2. Take a look at mutliplayer. Crappy, it looks. On the GCN, no problem. It looks like 1 player on both screens and 1 player is awesome.

It's the same with all companies. It's not just Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, or any other of the companies. Without the prospect of money, whether you wish to believe it or not, you wouldn't be seeing Video Games out on the market.

Now, I haven't played Bushido Blade for the PS2, but I have played Bushido Blade II for the PS1. In fact, I loved BBII, it was a nice change of pace from the mainstream fighting games out nowadays. But, meh, maybe this PS2 Bushido Blade is different.

Arguing solely on opinion isn't really a solid way to go, eh?
