Title: The Joke?

Why was it, that at the end of SMB3 it was all a joke by the princess? And why did they change it in SMA4 when released in America? Did they figure out that it wasn't funny?

Actually, she never made a joke in the original Japanese version of SMB3. It was changed for the US release but changed back for the SMA4 release.
