Title: Cwazy Words
Post by: TEM on November 26, 2004, 08:14:16 PM
Post your favorite non-mainstream words here. Try to think of ones that you actually say once a week, not ones that you just looked up in the dictionary.

First obscure word is, "Stellar".

Time slowed and Reality bent.

Instead of saying yes or no, I sometimes say "kinda-sorta-maybe-in-a-round-about-way".

thingamawhatsit-probably my most used word of all time.

Panache... heh.

flibbertegibbet (not flibbergibbet, but flibbertegibbet, it comes from your mouth so much more fluently)
wiggidyhiggidy man (For some reason, I find it very easy to come up with unrealistic nicknames that Sapphira would give to Chupperson)

Enjoy life.  There''s plenty of time to be dead.

Homogenized, Alkali, Carrageenan, Calcium Lactate... Say, none of these are adjectives!

In that case, I'll throw in truculant, saturnine, and... Obstinate. Well, obstinate isn't that great, but it's OK.

I found out today that I subconciously use the word "propaganda" quite a lot.  ...Especially every four years.

I don't think that's exactly a cwazy word.  I like the word "bajabbers!" that Dave the Barbarian says. I don't know if that show is still on but you should watch it because one episode has a long SMB reference.  Blunderuckus sounds kind of cool and strange.  And we can't forget about those great classics, conquistador and farfanoogan!

I've got a bad feeling this thread is going to last forever just like Mario Word Association and Ask a Stupid Question... .  Oh well.

Hmm... Not just weird, long, and real words? In that case, I'll add "absoballyflippinlutely." That was in a book I've read.

I doubt this thread will last partucularly long, as it's sometimes hard to find words that are of particular interest.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to add the "flippin..." Okay now.

"Not just weird, long, and real words?"

Actually I'd prefer if it were just real words, it's pretty easy to just make up a weird word, much more challenging to find a real weird word.

Lessee... a bunch o' stuff, I'm not sure if I can get 'em all... or really assess what'd seem strange.

Don, doff, rent (as in 'split'), shod, forsooth, indubidably, gustable, toothsome, prandial, alas, accurs'ed, imbue... um...
If I can remember any more, I'll add 'em.

Go Moon!

Has anyone read Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol (I think)?

"T'was brillig...."

Also, how about gobbledegook as a crazy word?

Nothing is impossible. My boss told me so.
