Title: Piantissimo: What's up with this dude?
Post by: Dogss on March 21, 2005, 10:13:39 PM
I am intruiged by this character, first of all he desguises his appearance with a (Horrible) Costume, and he can preform all the moves Mario can. He seems to be about as tall as Mario, also.

Which begs the question: Is Mario even human? Are they some sort of subspeicies?

I am also curious about that guy. He's one of the stranger characters in that game. Maybe he's some sort of inside joke by the designers?

(SPOILER) Also, what was up with the end of the game when it shows Piantissimo standing next to the Gadd Science Paintbrush?

I agree... I believe and continue to, that Piantissimo was an inside joke. You can read what some other people have proposed in the Mariology thread. It begins here.

As for the paintbrush scene, it's a cliffhanger. It strikes up interest, and mild amusment.

He's gonna be big, I can feel it. You'll see him in future games.

Mario is human.

Il Piantissimo?  I have my doubts.  Unless there's going to be a sequel to SMS, I don't think we'll be seeing our wannabe pianta in any major role anytime soon.

I agree, there's no way to be absolutely certain that the Mario Bros are human.  Although, I personally believe that both they and Il Piantissimo are.  I seem to remember Il Piantissimo having some sort of obsession with Mario (but I might be mistaken), so perhaps he worked out some way to imitate him.  Magic spell?  Devices in his shoes?  Who knows.

One thing I've noticed is that the Mushroom World seems to be filled with gifted individuals: the Mario Bros, Wario and Waluigi, Koopa the Quick, ect.  Perhaps Il Piantissimo is just another one of these individuals...who just happens to be a little bit nuts.  (easy way out, I know)

Is Piantissimo not the only African-looking human character we've ever seen being associated with the Mario world?

I know there was at least one african king in SMB3.

Dark skin does not make someone African.

I know he's not african, I just didn't know how else to put it.

I try to be as politically correct as I can.

Italian people can be dark skinned, if they come from the correct part of Italy.

So your saying white people come from incorrect Italy?

No, my not saying white people come from the incorrect part of Italy.

I was going to type "right" but thought that'd be misleading. But generally, people in the southern part of most countries (in the northern hemisphere, at least) have darker skin. This could mean Il Piantissimo probably lived in Southern Italy, or Sicily.

Paintissimo is deffinently a cool character, but how can he run with that heavy purple helmet on his head? But he made a good addition to SMS, in my opinion.

My brain hurts.

Also, I think that Piantissimo is kinda like another version of Koopa the Quick. Wouldn't it be cool if they raced...

I always thought that Piantissimo, Mario and Luigi weren't completely human. There are just so many additions that would suggest otherwise. There are so many sentient species in the Mushroom Kingdom, why not add another, subhuman species? I could go with the Yoshi theory (See Mariology)But that's almost too great and perfect to actually work. The simpler explanation is that they are simply a unique, distinct race.

The Yoshi theory was so perfect, it was cannon, until I disovered Piantissimo. At first i went on with the yoshi theory, denying his very existance, but I had to take notice.

By the way...i don't belive Mario & Luigi ame from Earth. :( Maybe their ancestors (But that's another thory. ;) )

SMW2 pretty much proves that they were born in the Mushroom Kingdom.  As for the subhuman theory, would Wario and Waluigi fit into this category too?  After all, they have some pretty super-human powers.

Yeah, actually, I've always seen them as leprechauns /subhuman. Heh....Maybe they're Mario and Luigi's half brothers?

See my theory on Wario and Waluigi, and also my theory of SSB in Kamikaze Koopa's Mariology thread. That could prove the Wario Bros' slightly Elvish look- they could be part Hyrulian!

I agree Wario bros. might be part-elf/hylian because his ears are pointy.

I like that Idea! I've never thought of that...Wario's darned fat to be an elf, though. And greedy, like a leprechaun.....

Why not? ;)

In Zelda: Majora's Mask, the Music Box House music is the same or similar to the Big Boo's Merry-go-round in Super Mario 64.

But the thought of Wario being a Hyrulian is also quite funny since the Zelda games are so sophisticated while Wario games have little or no meaning whatsoever.

Yeah... but, if you read my Wario Bros. theory in Mariology, you'll see I said that they might have been brought up by Kamek. Maybe Kamek brainwashed them in some way... ah, I'm just going off to write more bios.

I saw it, didn't like it. It's Out there....they don't seem evil, just misfits who dodn't get along with life as well as the Mario bros.

I guess that's true.  I suppose it's been established that Wario isn't evil, just really greedy.  Waluigi, on the other hand, seems just plain bad.

Did I imply that? Whoops, I guess I forgot to add a bit on the end. I think that Wario turned greedy after Kamek left, when Bowser charged him money for staying in Koopa Castle. That meant Wario was dead set on trying to pay Bowser off. When he did, he realised that money was good. Therefore, he needed to get more to make a good living. He originally thought to get Peach's coins, but there was one person who he hated more- MARIO.

After losing to Mario, though, he decided on getting other people's money. However, when he was terrorising Toad inside woods on his property, Toad began to fight back. However, when Wario was on the brink of losing again, Yoshi came and saved him. Angered at being saved by such an innocent-looking creature, Wario blinded Yoshi, Peach and Mario by putting buckets on their heads. However, Luigi saved them, with the help of Wanda, and Wario captured Wanda. He stole her magic Wand, and conjured up riches. He had also made millions in software. After losing all interest in Mario, he decided to settle down, until he heard Peach had been kidnapped, and there was a reward... he thought it was Coins, but it was just a cake... but from this day forward, Mario and Wario maintain a love-hate relationship (And Wario loves Peach's cake!!).

It''''s funny until someone gets hurt. Then it gets hilarious!

If you were referring to my post about the Wario Bros, then; yes, I was. It was called Wario and Waluigi: The Other Brothers, but it never got out of the planning stage. I'm more interested in the Koopa Kids.
