Hey, I liked the movie :(. The trick is to NOT think it should be exactly like the video game.

I liked it as a movie. I mean, c'mon, it was made in the '80s, how can it be bad?
I better cut you off here, taking an overdose of Markio can be dangerous.
-
To be precise, it was made in 1993.

'80s, early '90s, same thing.

It's my favorite movie. I know you have an opinion too, but wait and see if other people might have...*gasp*...enjoyed it! The proper question would have been: "Do you guys like the Mario Brother's Movie"? Keep in mind that I have nothing againts you.

"Why did the SMB movie suck?"
Because obviously, the people who made it had never even played a Mario game.
-
> "Why did the SMB movie suck?"
I call mu. The question contains a logical fallacy. The movie didn't suck.
>Because obviously, the people who made it had never even played a Mario game.
No, they obviously HAD played tons of Mario games... the number of Mario references in the movie is quite impressive. Just because they took huge liberties with the story doesn't mean they didn't play the games.
-
I liked it.
The way to make it not suck is to not think of it as a Mario movie.
-
That would be kind of hard for me. Seeing as I always come up with this competitive nature to totally bombbard people with all of the Mario facts I know just to throw it in thier face that I know more about Mario than they do. Except for the people here. I only do that at school. So basically I am trying to say, that I would not be able to not critisize the movie for its mistakes. But over all I thought it was a great movie.

I don't dislike the movie. It's not one of my most favorite movies of all time, but it's not teriible. It's inaccurate yes, but not really that bad.

I loved it, I thought it was an excellent movie. I think the reason so many people didn't like it was because it wasn't really about Mario and the games, but you have to admit it had a really good idea. A parallel universe caused by a meteorite where dinosaurs have evolved into human-like forms. The whole pendant thing, and the dinohattan thing, that was frickin awesome.

The whole cast and crew should visit the Mariology building some time.

The Mario movie rocks!

I like the movie but where is Princess Peach? and is King Koopa , Bowser?
Death to Bowser!

The only thing wrong about it, in my opinion, is that Bowser AKA King Koopa is played by a human. They should have had like a CGI of Bowser from the games. It was kind of weird seeing the Mario brothers calling some guy "Koopa."

The movie could have been worse. If it didn't have Mario going for it, I probably wouldn't be able to stand it.
My favorite part was the inside of Koopa's castle. I liked how the walls looked (just like in SMB3).
So put me down for "didn't much care for it." I didn't think the movie sucked.

I can't stand watching it. It's not really faithful to the games at all. Sure they had references to lots of stuff from the games, but most of the things were not right- such as the goombas. Goombas are supposed to look like mushrooms, not like people with weird reptile heads. If they played the games, it should've been obvious that the movie they were making was very different. It would have been cool if they made everything happen like it does in the games. Then it would have been more enjoyable. Anyway, that's my 2¢.
-
People keep saying there should have been CG Bowser, etc., but at that point in movie technology history, I think such a move would have made it really suck.
-
Wow, it took me until just now to realize that MegaByte's screen name changed.
-
For.
Rather than make this the one-word post it originally was, I would like to mention that the fact that it doesn't completely follow the games is awesome. I love the idea of taking something too fantastic and then mixing it in with...not reality, but something that can at least make sense. On the other hand, I also enjoyed The Adventures Of Mario & Luigi, which takes the other end of the stick. I think anyone can draw conclusions about how they're going to like this movie based solely on the fact that there is cigarette product placement in it.
Stockenographicism is NOT a word.
