Mario can hold his breath for 64 seconds before he dies a jolly death. That can't be a coincidence. Anyway, can you do it? I can. Whoo hoo!
-
I can too. I timed myself using the computer clock.
Hurry Up The Cakes!
-
There are no more 1-UPs in the fridge! I can't just go and tes- all right!
1st time: I made it to 24 seconds and laughed
2nd time: I "died" at exactly 65 seconds.
It''s in a better place, Strong Bad. Or rather, it''s in the same place but now it''s got a big hole through it.
-
I let it out a few seconds after 64 seconds. Maybe it has to do with the fact that it's on the Nintendo 64. Yep. Like the amount of money you get in Star Fox 64 for every enemy killed.

I never have tried it before. I might be able to if I was sitting still, but Mario can do it while swimming! By the way, cool topic choice DA.
I''m-a Luigi! Number-a one!

I can go for almost 2 minutes, being still. With movement, about 60 seconds. Imagine swimming as fast as you can for one minute, without breath. I take it that Mario is in good shape.

Even though he's chubby?

It's all muscle.
Time slowed and Reality bent.
But on and on the Eggman went.
-
Hahaha. Mario's full of magic, not muscle. And air.
> By the way, cool topic choice DA.
Thanks!

He has the magic in him all along.

43 seconds sitting still. Man, that was insane. I don't think I've ever done it that long. Maybe I need to take a bigger breath before I do it.
Mario can probably hold his breath longer because the water is "thinner" or something.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

He's a vid game character.

YR, I've found that it's easier to hold less than too much air at once. And anyway, Mario just jumps right into the water. He doesn't stop to take some preparation. But he cheats and breathes through his feet. Not fair.
Chubby? What? He's paper thin: the thousand year door.

Not even close. Despite being a competitive swimmer for about 11 years, I just can't hold my breath long. At all.
In comparison, a last year (my senior year of high school) there was a swim team drill where the boys and girls teams tried to swim underwater as far as possible. I finished dead last among all swimmers (regardless of sex), being narrowly beaten out by the first year JV girl with asthma who swam the 100 free about 20 seconds slower than I did.
In conclusion, something's wrong.
In secondary conclusion, there's no way I'd ever be able to hold my breath for 64 seconds.

Mario sure let himself go from SMB to SM64. He can hold his breath FOREVER in SMB.

Not forever; eventually, the level timer runs out.

What if Mario keeps getting metal caps underwater?

Sitting completely still, I managed 2 mins., and 4 secs. Got kinda dizzy when I stopped...not doing that again...going to lay down...
-
Steve, do you smoke or something?
“Of all the people I know, it is expected that Watoad will say ‘cheese’ first.â€

I wouldn't think that he smokes. Anyway, I held it for 64 seconds! Now I'm aiming for 128.

Actually, not really, since each level had a time limit. so, what, like 4 minutes, give or take? :P (Edit: I started this post last night but never finished 'til now, so Hirocon beat me. >_< )
I tried holding my breath, and didn't do all that great. I think I breathed in too quickly (as I was trying to time the second to match with the clock), and sitting on the floor (yeah, floor, not chair) didn't help. I think I'll retry it standing up. *Shrugs* I remember having pretty decent lung capacity when I was swimming a lot.

I tried again and failed. I guess candy really is bad for you. I've eaten about 15 gobstoppers today.
