Title: PM3 Partners
Post by: BP on October 15, 2005, 02:50:18 PM
What kind of Mario creatures would you like to see as partners if there is a PM3? There's probably (about 1000%) going to be a Goomba, a Koopa, and a Bob-Omb again.

I think there should be a Chain Chomp, a Swooper, or maybe a Spike Top. They should also put another Yoshi in, everyone liked that.

A Chain Chomp like in Link's Awakoning would be cool.

I'd like to see more Bowser SMB-ish levels even if he's not a partner.

Luigi like in Mario & Luigi.  Those Bro. moves were entertaining and effective.

A Dooplis-like character.

A hammer Bro!

No offense, but you're telling me to stop posting topics, but look at what you're doing. You may not have posted a much as I have, but you're not following your advice given to me?

Mario and Luigi They’re our men, if they can’t triple-jump and ground-pound no one can!

OH YEAH! A Duplighost would be cool. Or, I think that's what they were called in PM1.

Me: Hooray, it''s raining money and double apostrophes!!!

Paper Mario 3 should be Paper Luigi I think.  Not exactly like he talked about but close.  Otherwise... Lakitu, Hammer Bros. (since those 2 are so annoying), a piranha plant somehow, and an item box that can talk and give you items and enemies danger.

Bowser!  No wait!  He shouldn't be a partner, he should be the main guy!

In an ideal world, Mallow and Geno, but that's doubtful.
Lemme see...A shyguy partner would be cool.
Some sort of ghost...thing.
There really ought to be a toad partner.
And for whatever reason, I think a birdo would be a cool partner.

I think that there should be partners such as Luigi and Wario, along with other characters such as a koopa, goomba and stuff like that.

I''m-a Luigi! Number-a one!

*Ptooie could be used to spit fireballs at things (light candles, burn dry wood)
*Fly Guy could lift Mario over large caps

Maybe a thwomp? He can flatten Mario so he can pass certain places.

Haha, a thwomp. Thaqt's a pretty good idea, I didn't even think of a thwomp.
It's unlikely, but a magikoopa would be cool.
NO FLURRIE-TYPE THINGS.
This time there should be at least 2 partners that you can or can't get (like Ms. Mowz.) Luigi would be a cool optional guy. His overworld power: Uh... Human shield. Yeah, why not?

They should make the battle system different so you can have 2 partners out at once. My favorite partner was Koops and I HATED always switching out Goombella to tattle.

For Luigi I suggest: The invisibility power from SM64, and SM64DS, not only is it useful in the overworld, but Luigi is not very strong so it could help Luigi Jump a foe multiple times.

Wario could have a cool power: Parachute. I mean, he's big and round, and in Paper Mario he'd be flat! So he could float you down from high areas! But if that were the case, falling from high areas would have to affect your HP.

I'd rather see a remix of the partners from the previous 2 installments rather than new guys. In my ideal view, it would be:

Goombella
Kooper
Yoshi
Bobbery
Vivian
Parakarry
Sushie
Watt.

If by "Yoshi" you meant the same Yoshi that you had in PMTTYD, that's a good idea. But the horrible sad truth is, the game wouldn't know the color or name of your yoshi. Proof that the best ideas can be total crap. (Not your idea, the idea of naming your randomly-colored yoshi. Almost unintentionally started an argument...)

Why are you so obsessed with Yoshi's color?
Title: Re: PM3 Partners
Post by: BP on October 17, 2005, 03:18:51 PM
Nothing, I was just saying that the yoshi you had in PMTTYD couldn't be in PM3 because PM3 wouldn't know the details of your old guy.

Oh... Maybe there should be the partners from MP3's Duel mode.

I think it would be awesome to have these characters in a game:

Goombella
Bow
Bobbery
Vivian
Yoshi Kid Guy
Watt
Sushi
Kolorado

and maybe some more of the old characters all gathered together!  But as far as new characters, I think it would be cool to see a pirhana plant, a chain chomp, a duplighost (all the way) and maybe some more original, new characters.

PM3 will probably be on the Revolution. Considering the Rev has a port for Gamecube controllers and memory cards it is possible for Nintendo to use this feature to upload your old Yoshi into the game. Anyone who has no previous Yoshi could just get a new one in game.

Or they could cheap out and have a white yoshi claiming to be yours but without previous memory of what happened.

I have one idea for a duplighost ally: there could be a "kid" duplighost whose transformation abilities aren't advanced enough for turning he and Mario into other people properly, but inanimate objects just so enemies would avoid them, alike SMB3's Tanooki Suit. In battle, one of this guy's moves makes him focus on his powers and turn change into the form of an enemy. Because of his beginning transformation skills, it would only last for a limited number of turns. It would require a lot of FP though, depending on the enemy, and bosses require extremely high amounts of FP. It would also take a lot FP when the player decides to transform the duplighost into the form of another ally as a substitute if the original ally has fallen, however, like changing into enemies, is for a limited number of turns. Here is a list of abilities I came up with that the duplighost would have during battle:

Body Slam- Flies into the air and dives at the enemy. This is a basic attack, therefore no FP is used.
Disguise- Turns he and Mario into inanimate  objects, withstanding enemy damage.
Weapon- Turns into an inanimate object that damages the enemy depending on how the action command is carried out by the player (i.e. Baseball and Bat).
Substitute- Takes the form of a fallen ally.
Imitate- Takes the form of an enemy.

That was pretty good. Like, for the entire life description. Or, for imitate, you could move the cursor to select an enemy, a partner, or Mario! Think of it: TWO Marios ganging up on an Amayzee Dayzee...

What if you can have 3 partners out?

That solves switching to tattle.

I dunno...I'm thinking 3 partners is a little much, but it would be pretty awesome.  Might make the fights a little too easy, though.

I think it would be cool to have that one Merlon guy as a partner.  Probably the one from the first Paper Mario game, since you got to know him better.  He could use heal, some sort of offensive blast thing, star storm, increasing stats power, I don't know.  I just think he'd be a pretty awesome partner.

Do you remember in Super Mario RPG the tadpoles? I know, I know it sounds very lame but, think of the possibilities it could bring and what you can use him for. Taddy (could be the name) or perhaps Taddish but I am not really the one to come up with the new innovative character designs and names, I just think it would be cool, maybe teach him a surf technique?

I'd like to see a dry bones. He could work like the others, but he could also throw bones! Maybe you uncover how he died...
