Title: Back to the 80's
Post by: Yoshi55 on December 22, 2005, 04:14:15 AM
Don't you miss the 1980's? Don't you miss NES; Atari 2600; arcade games like Donkey Kong, Galaga, Pac-man, Mario Bros? Don't you miss the Reagan presidency? In this post, you can post anything 80's from NESes to DeLoreans.

All I remember from the 80's was not being born yet, which really sucked. I mean, you could do drugs, and the only thing that could stop you was the combined forces of Robocop, G.I. Joe, and the Transformers.

I agree. I would rather be in the 80's than in the 90's.

I was born in that decade, hey!

I liked lots of '80s stuff. The trends, eh, but there were tons of other good things about the '80s that are actually good.

I like DeLoreans even when they don't have time traveling technology on them.

The DeLoreans had a lot of problems like doors that wouldn't open and failing climate control.

For the price of repairing a DeLorean, you could get a DeLorean.

I am glad I can not remember the 80's.

Why? And by the way, if you are glad the 80's are gone, don't post here.

We're in the 00's ;)
But to be serious, I don't know what the 80's were like... Glorb's drug comment disturbed me... I mean, TMK wasn't around in the 80's, so I probably wouldn't be here. If I were born into the 80's, my life would be affected in positive and negative ways. Who knows, if I were born even a year earlier or later, I might not have even become the Mario fan that I am. You never know about things that would happen if the things that didn't happen happened in a different way. I might have loved it. Maybe not. You just never know.

The 80's?

You mean the era in which Michael Jackson hadn't yet transformed into a pasty, white lady?

Yes. The era with Max Headroom, Nintendo Entertainment System, the last breath of disco, Ronald Reagan as president of the USA, Atari 2600's downfall, cell phones the size of bricks, Back to the Future, the movie "The Wizard", Etc.

I remember seeing an episode of Max Headroom back in 1999, and it scared the crap out of me.

the ' 50s? Are you using a computer that takes up an entire room? Or a car that if made today would not pass crash tests?

Also, one of the things that was cool in the 80's was MS-DOS. I mean, Bill Gates was a genius. He made people shell out $30 - $40 for what was essentially a blank screen with "C:>" on it. Sure, around v5.0 it actually DID something, but remember the olden days of DOS, back when you couldn't do diddly squat with it.

Also, the 80's was the era of the text adventure. Yes, text adventures started in 1978 with Zork, but the 80's had Beyond Zork, The Lurking Horror, Wishbringer, Amnesia, and a whole bunch of others.
