On this board, everybody has a different opinion of their favorite system. Some choose new age, while other choose classical. Some even choose non-Nintendo. Well? Which would you want if you could only have ONE game console?
I chose Nintendo DS.
-
I'm going with the DS as well, just not sure why because this is one of the hardest questions I've ever encountered.
-
I chose the SNES. It had many great games on it.
-
*Chooses DS*
No-one can take my DS away from me.
-
So far, all three DS. A little surprising, actually. :D
-
DS
-
Ah... I would've cheated and chosen Revolution. But I didn't, SNES it is.
-
Nintendo Revolution (Other), as you can download and play any game.
-
The Nintendo 64. It was my first and favorite system. I don't think I could live with out it.
-
(whispers)Hmmmmmm... uh...fantastic four, fantastic four.....I want to say "stick" but I am not comfertable with that answer so I'll have to say...dead goat.
Seriously SNES
-
N64, because of three great games:
-Super Mario 64
-Ocarina of Time
-Majora's Mask
-
Whoops, I forgot to add Revolution. It's up there now.
-
Oh my.. You just had to make it tough and post almost every single system made.
I would say the Revolution because of it's virtual console feature. You can't go wrong with first party NES, SNES, N64 and all the Gamecube games under your belt. However it doesn't seem right to choose a system that hasn't even been released yet..
So for now, I would have to say SNES. It had some of the greatest games on it. DS would be a close second for me.. Followed by Gameboy.
-
Meh, we shouyld enjoy that the DS is in the lead tied. Because I know in a week, the freaking SNES will win by a landslide.
-
I'm a little surprised that the GCN only got one vote so far.
-
Hm. If I had to pick one of the systems listed above, I would pick either the Playstation 2, or the Playstation 3. I have no real interest in the PS3 as far as the next generation goes. I'm far more interested in the Revolution. However, I have listed it here, as I would most probably choose the Playstation 2, since it can play both PSX and PS2 games. If the Playstation 3 is fully backwards compatible (I don't know if it is), and can play PSX, PS2 and PS3 games, then I see no reason not to pick that over what I would have otherwise chosen.
Simply put, combined, the PSX and PS2 house more of my favorite games than any other system.
I also understand it's taboo to many of you to even own a system created by a company other than Nintendo, but I'm certain the more intelligent of you aren't as narrow minded and are considerate enough of other people's preferences as to understand that opinions differ.
-
Once it's complete, the Rev. Definitely. No competition.
-
Take Yoshi55 for example. XD
-
The Revolution is going to pwn all. Can't wait to start downloading all of the games I missed out on buying. I'll need a way to dispose of my GameCube by then. If none of my friends want it I can make an offer here, I guess. I mean, if it does everything that the GameCube does, there's no point for me to keep it.
-
Keep it for something useful, like, a sibling, younger person, or a time capsule! Don't just sell it, unless you make good money. ^_^
-
We sould have maybe 2 choices because I own all of the current consoles and I picked a handheld.
-
Choosing the Rev would just be too easy, so I chose N64. With games like Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it's just the best choice.
-

I actually have a PS2 and enjoy playing it.. just not as much as my Nintendo systems. The PS2 has some pretty good games on it and so does the PS1. The Final Fantasy games as well as the other RPGs the Playstation offers are really hard to pass up. DDR is also a guilty pleasure of mine.
The one system I don't have any sympathy for, however, is the Xbox. I'm sorry, I'm still just stuck on the idea that Microsoft has entered the gaming industry for profit and not for games.
And they stole Rare from Nintendo. Boo.
-
Why is the Revolution a choice? It isn't even out yet.
-
Because you already know what it will be like. Would you want it as your ONLY system, like the question asks?
-
It's rather funny you say that, Khold, since the Revolution is more or less the only system we actually have no idea what it will be like.
-
Microsoft didn't steal Rare. Nintendo didn't want to renew thier contract and dumped thier stocks so Microsoft took the oppurtunity to buy them. Unfortunately, they haven't made any hits since then.
I chose the SNES since it's what I grew up with and it has so many masterpieces on it. DS came very close though.
-

I know, but we all know mostly what the gameplay will be like.
-
This is the first time I find myself irritated by fan'girl'ism.
-
And what makes you so irritated?
-
I chose N64 becuase it kicks major butt.
-
SNES had the best games ever....
exept the best game ever would be Power Qeust for the GBC
-
Lemme see, I already have the GCN, SNES, N64, Game Boy and GBA, but if I had to pick, I'd choose the SNES. I grew up with that system and it still works top notch.
-
Please don't hurt me for saying this, but I choose the Xbox. I would choose the SNES, but I'm busy having fun in Fable: The Lost Chaptors at the moment, so I choose Xbox.
Wow, I'm suprised anyone has yet to choose the Sega Genesis.
-
I choose the DS. Most of my Pokemon games can be played on it. ^_^
-
I like SNES
-
Lessie...one system? I'd choose the Xbox. Not that I hate Nintendo or anything, but it has tons of awesome games (including Black, which I just got; it's rad!) and lots of ports of great games from other systems. The only games it's missing are the Resident Evil games (especially 4) and some sort of Tron game. However, the N64 comes in a very close second.
-
N64 definitely.
-
Nice, the freaking SNES is in the lead.
-

Some sort of Tron game? You have odd desires of a system's library, son. :P
-
Tron....would that be that Disney movie I've heard so much about?
-
Tron....would that be that amazing Disney movie I've heard so much about?
Yes.
-
What Disney movie?

Summary from Movietome for Tron:
Hacker/arcade owner Kevin Flynn is desperate to prove that the hottest videogames from ENCOM were stolen from him by a former co-worker, who is now a senior executive there. Flynn's efforts, however, are made fruitless by ENCOM's "Big Brother," the megalomaniacal Master Control Program. One night, the MCP catches Flynn in an attempted hack and pulls him into the virtual world. Flynn finds that the MCP is making life in the virtual world just as, if not more, miserable as in the real world. Flynn's only hope is to find TRON, a heroic independent system security program, and help him destroy the MCP to bring order to both worlds.
