I was wondering, go to records, then time trials, then select your record for Time Trials, then press Up, Down, L, R, Y, and A. I want to know if anyone knows what these codes are for.
-
What the...? Where did you find this out?
TG8N 33J8 R6U9 MKNL
...???
-
Weird, the code came out different for me.

What was it?

Edited my post.
-
My guess is that it's a checksum to verify records for some kind of tournament...
-
I doubt that's it. Many people probrobly found out this weird code. The developers wouldn't instal something like that in a game; especially when it's not as hard to figure out.
/me does research on this mystery
Actually, I wonder if I should ask the Nintendo Game Help Department.
-
Actually, I agree with Megabyte. If you have Double Dash, Finish any course in Time Trials, then when it's on the screen that says retry change course, press LRLRXYXYZ.
-
What Khold? That made no sense.
Oh and LRLRXYXYZ did have a use (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/mkdd_codes.shtml).
Mario Golf (http://themushroomkingdom.net/mg-n64_codes.shtml) also had something like this.
-
I mean it's unlikely that Nintendo would make a 'secret code' just for a contest that doesn't involve the rest of the players.
-
Umm except they've already done it at least twice.
-
I actually think that the developers for double dash forgot to take the code out.
For MKDS, I think it was put there for a reason. Mainly for provoking people to beat others online in TT.
-
Umm except they've already done it at least twice.
I didn't know that until now... I need to learn more about video games before I start arguing my point. -_-
So, the point is that this strange code in Mario Kart DS won't do anything, right? But the thing is, each code for every game card is different, it would seem.
-
No, it's different for each record.
-
Are you saying that if you have 1:35:042 with Yoshi & the Standard YS for Figure-8 Circuit, the code 3C43 NLJY 5UGB 8TJP will explain it? That's what I have, BTW.
-
Okay confused people, here's how it works. Nintendo runs contests (like on MKDD and MGTT) for who can get the best time trial time or whatever. Instead of just asking people to send in their times, where of course they could/would lie, they instead have to send in a "secret code" generated by the game that represents the time, except it prevents you from just lying about your time because only Nintendo knows what time the code represents.
The code is just a way to let Nintendo know your time is real.
