if you like them all then you may pick all seven. Please do comment though because i like to hear good comments.
-
I should love to give you a good comment, but I am afraid that that is hard to do in such a topic.
Let me offer some kind help though.
There is a search bar, use it!
Also, very trivial things need not polls, it is impossible to have all the categories.
-
Please do comment though
You first.
Seriously, I want to think that almost every one of your threads are excuses to clutter the forum with polls. I have a wonderful sticky on this sub-forum you should probably read. And ya, this has been done before.
For what it's worth, of those 7 I like Classic rock, Classical, and Jazz.
-
You forgot techno funk. :-\
-
Ooooh, I like techno funk. I like to make little techno sounds on my guitar. It's best when using many octaves at the same time.
-
Hm. My roommate claims he knows how to play "techno-funk" after looking over my shoulder.
As for music, I'm not very picky. Though don't care for a lot of rap ( Sorry Deezer D: ), or country music. Aside from that, most music is agreeable with me.
-
You mean you play guitar, Black Mage?
I like rock, classic rock, progressive rock, soft metal, classical, techno, and jazz.
Sometimes I like to play, what I call, 'spiritual' notes on my guitar. I can sometimes play my friends into a trance by playing my guitar in special ways. Using the wah-wah pedal is the main part. Effects like delay and fade work great. The riffs are supposed to be 'soothing' to the ear.

I agree with Steve. It looks like the majority of your current threads are polls, and I really don't feel like voting or posting in any of them.
Though, I did vote in this one, with classical, jazz, classic rock and...I forgot if I chose another one.
-
Woah! Vid posted in a thread.
-
Why isn't Acid Rock on there?
-
And what about Hillbilly Banjo Bluegrass (it's Bluegrass with some extra hillbilliness) and Techno? Or Technobilly Technograss? Or Hilltechnilly Blechno? Or even Classical Jazznobilly Bluerock? CJBBR is great.
-
Some people are going along with this poll......others are bashing it. I can't decided which side I want to be on!
-
Pop-Very Catchy
Jazz-Same as Pop
I also like Waltz.
-
The major gripe I have with this poll as a poll is that it fails the "Are there too many possible responses to make this a feasible poll?" test. Like Classical Jazznobilly Bluerock. The thread itself, while I know it's been done before, can stay, I guess. The major gripe I have with mario_luigifan104's threads in general is that they seem cheapened up JUST so they can have a poll tacked onto them. I think the only thread I've seen m_lfan104 make that wasn't a poll have the side comment "I would have made this a poll, but there were too many choices" added to the first post.
I can rattle off more genres I like that aren't in the poll (Techno, most video game type-songs, whatever Weird Al and the like is called, lots of non-mainstream things I find on the internet, etc.) than those that are. That is all. My music tastes don't fit into genres very well at all. I will say that I dislike most Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B, most Country (although I'm more tolerable to country), most Pop. Modern Rock is OK, although I prefer classic rock. There is one specific "music" group and about 5 or 6 specific "songs" that I absolutely cannot tolerate, and I sometimes take whatever measures are necessary (up to and sometimes including attempting to knock myself unconscious) to avoid listening to them.
-
Music that I have zero-tolerance for is death metal. My brother plays it as loud as his speakers can go every day. It is SO annoying. The singing isn't even really singing. It's just growling that you can't even understand. And every song I hear sounds the same to me. All it 'sings' about is hatred, violence, Gothic, and cursing. Ugh, I just can't STAND it... One time on his birthday party, all night long he had his death metal on SO LOUD. I was in my room, trying to sleep, as I watched my Mario bobble-head slowly vibrate off the night stand.
I also don't like 'punk' or 'emo' music. I can tolerate it, though. They sing about hating their life and suicide. Surly they have better lyrics they can replace rather than talking about depression. I don't like to hear that genre of music.
My favorite band would have to be Dream Theater. They're a progressive rock band. Most of their songs are 'stories'. Each song is around ten minutes long. They, to me, have the most talent for music. Everything about them is good. Especially John Petrucci(guitarist). Almost every song I know was played by him. He can play so fast, yet so smoothly.
I think I've talked about Dream Theater before, though. Has anybody else heard of Dream Theater?
-
I just like music. At least I'm pretty sure I do. Classifying certain songs to certain genres just confuses me.
-
Ah, the age old question that I hate being asked, since I'm never sure how to respond.
I'm more about individual songs than a particular music genre.
However, music I tend to like the most songs from is Soft Rock / Contemporary / whatever-that-kind-of-music-is called, so if listening to the radio, it tends to be a station that plays that type of music. I don't listen to the radio often, though; I prefer listening to stuff on my own playlist.
Other music I really enjoy comes from these genres: Video game, Christian (Contemporary), and Orchestrated/Instrumental (I guess Classical could be included?). I suppose "Soundtracks" would fit under these? Some rock, pop, and country is okay, but it tends to be the songs that cross over into the soft rock genre.
I don't like Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, and that loud metal rock or whatever where all they do is scream and roar. I also hate it when a song has a really cool beat/melody, but the lyrics are awful (this includes any profanities, too). :(
If I had to give a simple definition of what music I like, I'd say "pretty" music. Vague, open-ended, and subjective, but meh. If a song has piano, strings, and/or electric guitar, I'll probably like it. Wind instruments are good, too. All that stuff's usually "pretty," as I define it. I'm not big on acoustic guitar, though.
-
Where is rap?
Where is the love for Eminem and 50 cent?
-
I forgot to add that I like spriritual music. I think what Sapphira said by 'pretty music', she meant spiritual. It's supposed to be relaxing. I really like Egyptian spiritual music. It puts my mind into a trance.
-
The kind of music I really like isn't here... movie soundtracks.
-
I also like the music that's played on the channel guide channel. It's usually a jazzy song, but it's light, and sometimes they play "soundscapes" which are also nice. I like to fall asleep to that music sometimes.
-
I find it most hilarious that Sapphira finds electric guitar to be "prettier" than acoustic.
-
What? I don't like the sound of the acoustic. It's too...mellow and "blah," IMO. Electric gives more passion.
-
Acoustic isn't 'mellow', it's just a lot softer. I like to play acoustic-y songs sometimes. When I put up a few more of my songs, you won't think it's bad anymore. ^_^
I was actually surprised that my 'The Music Topic' didn't go too well. There's other topics, this for example, that talk about music.
After I fix my mic, I'll post a few songs. Right now I'm working on a remixed Mario song. It's really hard, though. I'm not sure if it will come out nicely or not. >_> I'll also make a mixed track that I use to 'trance' people. Listen to it if you're tired and can't sleep. XD
-
I never said acoustic was bad; I just don't prefer the sound of it compared to other instruments.
I'm very familiar with the acoustic guitar's sound, as my brother loves it and plays it all the time---either on his or listening to music with it.
It's a lot better than other instuments, but it doesn't really do anything for me. Usually music with it is okay. Not great, not horrible, just...meh.
-
Oh, I see. I do prefer disortion rather than acoustic, but acoustic is also very good.
What kind of music does your brother play? You said acoustic, but what else?
-
Uhh... any kind of music he likes. That's a really wide range. He gets tabs off the internet and a lot of times writes his own stuff. Autodidact. Kind of like me with keyboard/piano, 'cept I teach myself songs by ear, rather than reading it.
-
Playing by ear is really tough to learn. The only songs I can play by ear is very slow or focused notes. I learned the first couple notes of the Mario song by ear, and it sounded accurate. After that, I transferred an MIDI to sheet music with GuitarPro. I was really surprised how close I was. O_O
Most of the songs I play repeatedly are those from my favorite band: Dream Theater. I'm actually not very good when it comes to writing my own songs. Though it seems easier to write a song if I mess around with my friend's piano.
I found out something a little strange, for lack of a better word. After playing guitar for around three years, and without playing a piano very often, it would seem that people can be "experienced" pianists just by playing a guitar. It's a little hard to explain. For instance: I just got back from my friend's house today. I was playing the piano alot. I was just playing chords from my guitar to the piano, and made really good riffs in a few seconds. It's really strange.
Like I said, it's hard to explain. If you know what I mean, has anybody else realized that it's a LOT easier to start playing another instrument after having plenty experience with a different one?
-
That's not necessarily true. But playing one instrument can give you enough of an abstract knowledge of music in general that it's not too hard to figure out other instruments. I used to think I was pretty good at the piano until I started taking lessons.
I myself learned to play music by ear, and then learned to read music a few years later. So it's really very easy for me to play something once I hear it. But that also comes with familiarity with instruments.
I would say acoustic guitars with gut/nylon strings are mellow, but steel strings are much brighter.
-
It's not really the hearing of music that makes me better when playing the piano; when I play, I play random keys in an order that sounds good. Then I put together a few chords, and in less than a minute, I've got a good riff. But like I said, it's hard to explain. XD
If you learned to play by ear before you learned to read music, you truly amaze me. It takes most musicians at least a year before they can play by ear. Especially if they can't read music. If this is true of what you say, then if you practice often and try hard, you could be really good.
-
Could be good? Chup IS good.
-
Okay, he could be better. :D
I just fixed my microphone, so I'll probrobly have some recordings up today. I'm taking requests, so just tell me if there's something you want to hear. I remember Vid or Koopaslaya saying something about the Song of Storms, so I'll get that up as well.
So far, this is what I'm practicing for:
- Super Mario Brothers theme song
- Mario Underground theme
- Song of Storms
- My own songs... I guess
What else?
-
You know if you play it on the guitar, Vid would be more than happy to sing it for you.
-
I haven't been able to get the chance to hear any of his sound clips. When I copy+paste his links, it says "Invalid file type."
If he can post it with yousendit.com (http://yousendit.com), then I'll mix the files. XD
-
Hmm, maybe you should revive your Music Topic, Khold, since this is one's more about stuff you like, not stuff you play. ;P
-
Well, there's not much of a difference. The Music Topic talks about anything music, not just what you like. If I revived it, you might as well merge this one into mine.
I can revive it if you'd rather me post sound files in it.
-
I wasnt "sing"ing it, Koopaslaya, I was "do"ing it.
-
I like pop and some hip-hop but the person who made this list forgot R and B!
-
*swings hand up and down* That beat rough like sandpaper, dog.
-
Ugh. R&B. No. Just, no. Sorry. One of my least favorite genres of music.

There's no particular music genre I like. I just don't really have a strong interest in music. If I hear something that I like, I'll listen to it. If I had an iPod, It would be filled with showtunes, theme songs, and entrance music.
