Title: DSuggestions
Post by: Mr. Melee on March 09, 2006, 04:53:10 PM
I need some help. I have a new DS and I only have MKDS on it. I want the other forumers' opinions on which game I should buy.

*Note* I'm not trying to spam, raise my post count, etc. I just need some quick help.

I reccomend any or all of the following:

Animal Crossing: Wild World
Super Mario 64 DS (if you don't have Super Mario 64)
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Save your money for: Tetris DS, maybe Metroid Prime: Hunters

All great games, and the ones about to come out are probably great games. It really depends on personal taste. Also I heard Age of Empires got a really good review, but I actually sort of doubt it was any good, since the review, I think, was in Nintendo Power.

Meteos if you want a puzzle game
Kirby Canvas Curse because it's awesomely original
Advance Wars Dual Strike because it's Advance Wars we're talking about here
Super Princess Peach because it's a 2D Mario platformer

Daigasso! Band Brothers
Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan

Yeah, you'll have to import them from Japan.

Trauma Center: Under the Knife (if you enjoy weird but fun simulation games)
Meteos (if you enjoy puzzle games)
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (I can't really say much on this one, it's just fun)

I was thinking about M&LPiT.

Even though GoldenEye: Rogue Agent for DS got some bad rep, I think it's worthwhile to get if its price is low. Sure, it's a pile of turd compared to Metroid Prime Hunters, but it's pretty fun.

But if you want a truly excellent game, get either Super Mario 64 DS or MPH.

The games I play most are Animal Crossing: Wild World, Mario Kart DS, and Tony Hawk's American Sk8land; from order of most played first. It's a strange coincidence that they're all WFC games. If you like to play online while having near-endless possibilities of playing the game, and impossibly-able(is that a word?) to complete or get bored of the game, get Animal Crossing: Wild World.

If you have a few buddies with DSes that you can play with often I suggest that one of you buy Bomberman DS. Best with 3 or more players, goes up to 8 with just one card. The single player mode is pretty good, but the real highlight of this game is the multiplayer. Very similar to Super Bomberman 2's multiplayer, except of course the arena spans two screens and some modes of play use the microphone. Really only worth buying if you have a DS group that meets regularly or if you happen to enjoy classic-style Bomberman single player action.

I hear the upcoming Resident Evil: Deadly Silence will be great.

Also, I've noticed something: There are a lot of "DS" subtitles for DS games.
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
Guily Gear: Dust Strikers...etc.

Wow, that's an interesting observation... I bet it's intentional.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is a pretty good game... it's worth your money, at least. It's a little too short but you should still get it.
SM64DS doesn't get old for a long long time. The mini games are even good. Unnaturally good.

Of course the DS naming is intentional...

Derek Stiles. (Main character of Trauma Center: Under the Knife)

Stiles.
Stylus.

Yup, seems intentional to me.

Kirby Canvas Curse: Drawcia Sorceress, Drawcia Soul. Final bosses. I don't think that qualifies as a spoiler, does it?

If you like Pokemon, I think the Diamond and Pearl versions are gonna be DS titles.
Also upcoming, NewSMB.
Same with you, the only DS game I have at the moment is MKDS.  Wait a moment!  I also have the Metroid Prime: Hunters demo.  I used to have Ping Pals, but it sucked, and I sold it.
I think a Zelda DS is in the making, but that's all we know about it.

Upcoming Games:

Pokemon Ranger which is the new Yellow.
Xenosaga I and II (If PiT isn't enough.)
Metroid Prime Hunters

A few others I'll find later.

Animal Crossing Wild World
Advance Wars Duel Strike
Super Mario 64 DS

I like Animal Crossing the most, I can't get my eyes off of it.

Yuppers, they sure are. ^_^ I can't wait!

Is Electroplankton out? I don't know, but underwater and music on the DS sounds intriguing at the least.

Apparently the makers of Netbattle will shut it down when D/P comes out. I don't care, I get to play people online. Bring it on, TMKers!

Oh, and also, if you have a DS, inserting R/S/E/FR/LG into Slot 2 while D/P is in enables you to trade Pokemon from the older games. ^_^ AWESOME!

WHY do they name all the new Pokemon games after precious jewels and crap like that? Gold and Silver as in the colors to go with Red Blue and Yellow. Next thing you know there'll be Pokemon Linen and Denim versions. The third to accompany those could be Pokemon Leather.

Pokemon Shield, sword, and magic staff.

Pokemon Glass could be a collector's edition title, you know?

So what about Electroplankton? *checks his NP mag.* I see it's out. Is it good?

Actually, I'd name a collector's edition Pokemon Platinum.

*rofls at Pokemon Leather*

I, too, would like to hear more about Electroplankton.

Electroplankton isn't a game, it's a music toy, and while it might be neat to play with, I don't think it's worth the money.

Ah, okay. Better off saving for D/P and the Revolution, anyway. ^_^

I thought it would be good to have on-the-go music. Thanks for the insight, MEGABYTE.

Electroplankton is only available online through the Nintendo Store, by the way.

The demo I downloaded at E3 was own-age but I'm a freak like that.

I played Electroplankton (my friend has it) but the one feature it's lacking is the ability to save music. I did this radical (sort of) rendition of (what sounded a little bit like) the Duke Nukem theme song, but it will never be heard by human ears again...*sniff*
