I've noticed since Super Mario 64 DS that Mario has replaced his peace sign with some new sign where Mario throws his fist up in the air. In my opinion, Mario should have his peace sign back because he's a lot cooler with it and it's an original pose. What do you think of Mario's new victory sign?
-
I'm not sure how to answer the question. O_O
-
I voted for the peace sign,I like it when people (or videoGame characters) Enforce peace.

I think it stands for victory, not peace.
-
whatever, you know what I meant!

is for victory.
-
So...yes = peace sign, and no = fist thingy?
-
Grrrrrrrrr. THATS IT! I'm leaving these forums, you wont expect to see me for one hour!
-
The V isn't for victory.
It's V for vendetta
-
I think in Mario's case, the "Peace" sign is actually the "V for Victory" sign. But yeah, I want the that sign back too. "Peace," "V for Victory"; they have the same hand gesture, so it can go either way.
-
I like the victory sign. Mario is the original victory sign character. He made it very popular in the video game world.
-
I think the poll would be more successful if instead of saying yes or no, since I do not know which is which, you said "peace" or "fist."
-
That Victory sign has been around way longer than Mario. I've seen a picture of Winston Chuchill with the Victory sign. Back then, it had to have stood for Victory. Then, sometime around the 60's, that 'V' sign became popular among the 'Hippies', who used it as a sign of Peace to protest against the Vietnam War. Finally, a Japanese video game company (not 100% sure when Mario first started his victory pose with the 'V' sign) decided to make a sprite of their mascot flashing that sign. Thus, the "V for Victory" sign became popular among gamers.
-
I'm saying that Mario has used it more than anyone else. He made it popular. Not some sprite.
-
I was referring to a famous sprite of Mario. The one from SMW where he strikes the 'V' Peace sign for his victory pose. I like to strike the victory/peace sign whenever I accomplish something tricky on a video game. Why? Because it regained popularity with Mario and some anime characters frequently striking it.
-
Yup, that's the one. Anyway, I think this fist sign is not nearly as cool as 'V'.
-
"Mario and some anime characters"
From this sentence alone you'd think one would be able to tell that it's not a Mario-exclusive thing.
-
If you know the 'V' sign's history, you'd know it's not Mario-exclusive.
-
Poll fixed/clarified.
-
Thank you for fixing the confusion for me. I am now going to vote for "Don't Care"

The victory sign is actually a common thing in Japan. In the summer of 2004 I was visiting there and it's basically like Americans "throwing up the horns." He just did that because it was what people did when they acomplished something or got complimented.
-
It doesn't matter to me. As long as I beat the level, I'm fine.
-
Yeah, when I went to Disneyland there were a lot of Japanese who posed in pictures with the V sign. I think it's just about the coolest thing ever. I remember back in the day, playing SMW and SMAS... Hey wait... I could be playing SMW or SMAS right now.
-
Peace sign. I'm all for the peace sign. Not a day goes by that I don't use the peace sign. Nope. MARIO IS FOR PEACE (I think)
-
It's for victory.
-
V for Vendetta. I mean victory.
-
Who's to say what the peace sign is for? I'll tell you: whoever's playing.
Since I'm playing right now, I say it's for peace. Argument solved.
-
I really liked the "peace sign." It suit's him well. Another thing he can do is a thumbs up like in MK64.
-
I would be funny to see Mario give Bullhorns like a rocker.
-
No. That's something I'd expect Rawk Hawk to give. I might have seen him give the Bullhorns thing on PM:TTYD.
-
Don't know about Rawk Hawk, but Flurrie did!! I'm not lying either, when she appeals or is on the attack selection, she gives the crowd t3h evil fingahs. XD
Well, not exactly. Her thumbs stick out, too... but other than that, she does.
-
I know, and it kind of bothers me. Flurrie doesn't seem to be the type of character to give that sign. Unless it symbolizes that she belives that it rocks fighting along side Mario. I don't disagree with her. I think fighting along side Mario would be one of the coolest things ever. I'm just pointing out that Rawk Hawk seems like the kind of bird who'd give that sign.
-
I always envisioned Rawk Hawk as a parody of The Rock and Hulk Hogan, so I'd expect him to have some sort of 'stance'.
-
Who voted Fist?
-
I played SM64 and beat it and then SM64DS and beat it rapid-fire. I realized how much the fist sucks. Right after Mario gets the kiss from Peach... the peace makes the moment right.
Mario also sems to like tipping his hat after every level in NSMB.This is better than the fist, but I miss the peace sign so much...
-
Everyone does the fist. The origional victory sign was much better. It relfects his personality much better as a carefree person rather than a blood thirsty murderer. So yeah, you get my point, yo. Plus, he was the first to do it. :O
-
Uhhh we already went over that. The Peace/Victory sign has been around MUCH longer than Mario.
