Title: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday
Post by: Tingrio on June 19, 2006, 01:18:18 PM
Yesterday marked Paul's 64th (this is only a special occasion because of his hit When I'm 64) birthday and I wish him  a happy birthday from the bottom of my heart. This topic can also be used to discuss your favorite Paul McCartney hit from his solo career or the Beatles (if you don't have a favorite from Sir Paul or prefered George Harrison's or Ringo Starr's songs, feel free to put them here) or what you think of his recent album (Chaos and creation in the Backyard).

It'll take a lot to get me to go vegetarian.

I find it interesting on how it is easy to go vegetarian for some and hard for others.  It was very easy for me.  It only took some animal cruelty videos about the handling of an animal before it gets slaughtered and one video of the actual slaughter itself.  What also got me were the facts about the helping the environment and your health.  I was able to become a vegetarian over night.

I agree with the Chef. I like meat just as much as I like fruits and vegetables.

Oh well.

Happy Birthday, Paul.

What's wrong with eating meat? It's not like you killed the animal. No matter what you do, you can't take away a person's right to eat meat.

Anyway, Paul was a Beatle, and the Beatle's are my favorite band. Happy Birthday.

Meat is too tasty for me to become vegetarian.  I'm kind of like Wart, in which I don't care for vegetables.  Anyway, the Beatles rule, so happy belated B-Day, Paul!

Some people need to eat meat to have enough iron in their blood among other things. Being vegetarian doesn't automatically make you healthy. I'm tired of fuzzy whining about eating meat.

Paul McCartney is a cool guy.

You can get iron from other sources.  Trust me, it isn't that hard.  I'm tired of everybody dissing me for my beliefs.

You try being my mom and finding that after trying many other ways to get enough iron, the only way that works well enough to keep her well is to have some meat.

I like meat, and I eat pounds of it a month, but I do love my greens. This whole disscussion on "meaters" vs. "vegeaters" is kind of useless. I have had two teachers who were vegetarians, and I can safely say their carrot cake is scrumptious.

Anyway, Happy birthday dude. You have passed your middle age crisis, still not in retirement, and your age hasn't stopped you from making songs.

Oh, and fuzzy, did you know Skittles contains meat?

What like Draino?  It's the moral issue with meat with me, not eating meat is bad for you.  You people should really research some stuff before you argue.

I do eat meat, but so do other animals. I don't have anything against vegetarians/vegans, but I just hate it when people press their opinions on others consistently.

I know that I have been pressing the idea down on some people, but it makes me angry when they say that meat is too tasty to give up.  That is an awful reason to keep eating meat.  Just research it a little and then decide.

Exactly! That's what I was trying to say. How the heck am I supposed to build muscle without meat, eh? Vegi's don't contain complete proteins.

EDIT: Meat is tasty, but that's not why I eat it. I'm a wrestler. I'd be skinny without it!

Protien doesn't build muscle.  I learned that in Foods class.  Protien simply repairs them and keeps them in good shape but it does not build up the muscle.
The only way to build muscles is to use them.  When you do use them, the muscles rip and when they are repaired, a bit more muscle gets added on.  You can do just fine in building muscles without meat protien.  Saying you eat meat just because you are a wrestler, to me is like saying:  I am a cotton planter so I need my slaves.  Without them I would be broke.

Oh, so now you're cracking down on cotton planters? >:( jk

Still, there is still that little thing- animals kill other animals. Humans are animals, there's no point hiding it. Notice how if there's a fight in a schoolyard, people will flock around to watch it? Animals do kill other animals. It's sad, but it's life. :(

Correction: Killing humans is wrong. Killing animals is perfectly okay, if it's for a good reason. (such as for food)
Title: Re: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday
Post by: Chupperson Weird on June 20, 2006, 08:37:49 PM
As I mentioned before, animals are cultivated to be eaten. There's pretty much no way cows and chickens are going to survive on their own in the wild. It's either humans or wolves.
Now, unless you're a fruitarian, you must eat a lot of poor little vegetables that got pulled out of the ground all so you could have your little meal. Poor carrot, you're eating the root and it can't support its little green leaves on top.
I'm not advocating the way the meat producers go about killing the animals, but I don't really think it's wrong to produce meat.

Title: Re: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday

I see that somewhere, someway, some animal is exploited to make food. It might be for milk, meat, manure, or work. It is pretty much impossible to go without hurting an animal is someway. Also, lots of foods have meat in them. I think gelatin even has meat.

P.S. Fuzzy should start a topic about vegetarianism so we don't spam up threads about other things.

Whatever you do, fuzzy, do not play Kingdom of Loathing.

Oh man, thats a vegeaters nightmare.
The currency is meat, about 500 steaks is what I have, and meat is used for glue.

But its natural for humans to kill animals for food. That's why we have these kind of teeth, the canis teeth or something, that grinds down the meat, and the molars, to grind up the greens.

And boy, when my science teacher said vegetables are alive, that scared me. Either way, fuzzy, you are eating something alive, or at least, was once alive. The only thing people that can eat without eating living or once living things is the rocks, the soil, the air, the water, and maybe helium.

But as what my 4th grade teacher once said, "I won't eat anything with a face."

I can agree with you people to some point.  I think a human should only kill an animal if he/she has too.  In today world, almost everybody can survive without eating meat.  So if all the plants died and their were only animals to eat, then killing them would be okay in order for the human race to survive.  Otherwise killing something for food when you don't need it is cruel.  Do you see my viewpoint?

Killing a plant is fine because they don't feel pain and they don't have brains.

We could say that everyone who eats meat would side with us. George W. Bush, for example. He's freakin' the most powerful guy in the world. Besides, most celeb's have problems.
Title: Re: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday
Post by: fuzzy on June 21, 2006, 03:11:33 PM
You could say that but I don't think they are eating meat because they feel really strongly about it.  You guys are just eating meat because you can.
And by the way George W. Bush is not the most powerful guy in the world.  I think that that is an insult to him.  A President is not there to be powerful, they are there to lead the way for average folk.  Celebs to not have problems.

I Lolocausted when Fuzzy mentioned Lisa Simpson in his list of people who would support him. I'm sorry, but it just looks so out of place when a fictional character is placed with real people in a list of animal rights advocates. It's kinda like Aarom11's DKU post about how Mario would thank him alongside Mr. Iwata and Mr. Miyamoto. There's even a YTMND about it.

Wahahaha!! I didn't even read his list! Lisa Simpson?!

Okay, I want to eat meat because it's tasty and good for building bodies. No matter what you say (about how eating meat is supposedly evil and it makes me an animal killer) will change my mind. I hate vegi's. I'm sorry, but don't tell me what to eat anymore.
Title: Re: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday
Post by: Ultima Shadow on June 21, 2006, 05:24:44 PM
To me, there is nothing wrong with humans killing animals for food. To say meat-eating humans are in the wrong is comparable to a lion in Africa is in the wrong for killing and eating an antelope. It is just the torture these animals go through that is immoral and wrong.
Title: Re: Paul McCartney's 64th Birthday

Whether or not the President is supposed to be powerful, that's what it's ended up being. And all the people that would "support" fuzzy would more likely wonder what was wrong with him to attack others when they don't share his point of view.

Okay, to settle this discussion of NOT Paul,
Hunt or be hunted.
Eat or be eaten.

In school, there is a group of people I life to call "opinionators" because they have opinions,
and they WANT, FORCE, and MAKE people think their opinion is the right one, AKA, Carla group.
They force people to think that their way is the only way.
They force people to think that anything else is wrong and could lead to the destruction of mankind.
They express their opinions without the concern for other opinions.
They don't listen to other opinions.
ANd I just freakin' hate that.
Its not right.
Making people think that.
Do that.
I'm sorry fuzzy, but that's what you are partially doing here.
Okay, look at this.
I like meat. I eat meat. I enjoy meat. I don't care what doctors say about meat, one of my doctors had a BigMac wrapper in his trashcan, they are just trying to look like a good doctor, but that isn't what they always believe in.
And remember, vegetarianisim is kind of like a religon.
Its what you believe,
but not neccessarily what others think is right, correct, or for the good of mankind.
SO you can keep your tofu hotdogs and picket signs.
I'm happily eating my roast beef and baby back ribs smothered in BBQ sause with melted cheese.
*Drools*Ahhhhh.
*Wipes drool of mouth*
Pt_peach, can I have one of those?

Right.  I want to say that I am sorry again.  I just felt that it was my duty as a vegetarian to give the animals some voice.  Being vegetarian doesn't mean I am off the hook for any reason what so ever.  It is very hard for any vegetarian to sit back and relax while people gloat about eating an animal.  It's hard.  I'm sorry.

Dear fuzzy:

"Being vegetarian" does not mean you have to attack everyone for not being vegetarian. Your statement that "any vegetarian" feels exactly the same way as you about it is also false. I mostly don't eat meat, because most of it, I don't like. I also do not agree with how the animals raised for meat are treated. However, you are not going to stop anything by yelling at people on a message board. What's even worse is that you don't realize that by now people are just making fun of you for overreacting so extremely. It is not hard to let people have their own belief system. The day will never come when people do not eat meat, so it's pretty foolish to try and stop people. You can try to improve the situation somehow, but you're not going to stop people from growing the food they like to eat.

Then why are you eating and supporting the cruelty to them?  (Answer this by yourself, don't tell me)

What's even worse is that you don't realize that by now people are just making fun of you for overreacting so extremely. It is not hard to let people have their own belief system.
Trust me, I do know that people think I am a complete sphyco for being more commpasionate and caring then others.  Besides, nobody really feels strongly about eating meat.  It is just kind of a whatever for you guys.  I will not sit and hide my face in the sand when billions of animals are killed every year in the U.S.

The day will never come when people do not eat meat, so it's pretty foolish to try and stop people. You can try to improve the situation somehow, but you're not going to stop people from growing the food they like to eat.
You are wrong about that.  Nearly every single vegetarian believes that.  There will be a day when people will look back in horror of what their ancestors have done.  Just like we do today.  Everything gets perfected over time.  I can't stop it completly but I can help.  Just not here I suppose.  The air around here is just a little too bitter.

The ironic thing is that Hitler treated Jews and handicaped people the way some people treat animals.

That statement is wrong.  He claimed to be a vegetarian, but he ate sausage and pigion and all sorts of other things.  There is a whole book written about this.  Stupid Hitler.

All this vegetalk needs to be in a new topic.

He may not have been totally strict earlier on (assuming those few reports are accurate), but it's pretty evident that he tried to be a vegetarian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism_of_Adolf_Hitler), and was absolutely an animal rights activist.

I became a vegetarian at the beginning of May, although it seems like muck longer than that.  Hitler was stupid.  He treated people like crap, yet he wanted to ba an animal rights activist?  I hate him!

Hm, that makes sense. Most vegetarians who only became that way recently seem to do that more.

I'm okay with vegetarians that are fairly quiet about their beliefs and respect peoples' opinions on what they want to eat. I know they exist, because I know quite a few of them.
I'm NOT okay with vegetarians who shove their opinions into my face and tell me what I'm doing is wrong and is "destroying the planet" whenever they see me carving into my BBQ baby-back ribs. When they do that, I usually tell them to respect others beliefs and what they want to eat, and take a huge bite of my dinner in their face to spite them.

You cannot change people, you can only change yourself. The former group of vegetarians know this. Just my two cents.

And again, happy birthday Mr. McCartney!

Here's a intresting Beatle fact for you: The album Sgt. Pepper's cover was different in other countries (an obvious statement since most other albums and other objects are the same), but the most intresting cover was in Japan which was the oppiste of the U. S. cover. All the people were facing away from the cover. Also: There have been two cameos of this album cover (not japan, but the U. S.) on the Simpsons. (I used google to find webpages containing this information.

My Favorite Beatles songs include: All songs from Sgt. Pepper, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Back in the U.S.S.R., Magical Mystery Tour soundtrack, Hard Day's Night soundtrack, Yellow Submarine, Penny Lane, Strawberry Feilds Forever, etc.

I'll post more Beatles facts as I find them!

Frank Zappa hated Sgt. Pepper's.

The U.S. cover was supporting the "Paul is dead" hoax. Click on the link in my last post for the info.
