So what's your favorite band or artist? And what's your favorite song by that band?
Mine is probably Smashing Pumpkins...as for my favorite songs, I have many: 1979, Cherub Rock, Obscured, Rhinoceros, Starla, I Am One, Perfect, Untitled, Today, Stand Inside Your Love, and Everlasting gaze...they are a really good band...
So what's yours?

I also like a lot of hard rock and alternative music. I'll edit this post to include more later.

Top 10 Of Classical Music?! Yeah, right. That's the top 10 of well known classical music. Where's Respighi and Fountains of Rome, I ask you!
Wow, my observation skills are toast.
My favorite artist died in 1975. He was none other than... Dmitri Shostakovich. Great piano concertos, great symphonies (according to Chupperson). I recently ordered his 5th and 6th symphony from Amazon. It should come in a couple of days.
http://shosty.ytmnd.com/ -- I'm not sure if it's the best example, but I liked it.
-
Barely anybody on my campus knows about any classical music. So... I'm pretty much hated because I like classical music better than rock music.
Anyways, my favorite artists are Aaron Copland and Pyter Tchaikovsky. And whoever wrote the musical scores in Call of Duty 2.
-
Where's Respighi...?
He lived from July 9, 1879 - April 18, 1936. Notice that my favorite classical music CD is from 1788 to 1810. Respighi wasn't even born yet. That CD series does a top ten for different date ranges.
I also like some Rossini and Wagner, but Beethoven is my favorite followed by Mozart.
-
Weird Al and Reel Big Fish
-
Yeah, I don't think I have to say this since everyone already knows... That'd be "Weird Al" Yankovic. Let's see, favorite song... I don't know, I guess it'd be one of either "Slime Creatures From Outer Space," "Don't Download This Song," "Spam," or "Yoda." Picking a favorite is tough.
-
My favorite artist is Syd barrett, and my favorite song by him is Vegetable Man.

That's not what rock is about!
-
That's what AC/DC and a lot of other bands seem to be about.
I would like to add because I am reminded from Luigison's list that I like Tom Petty and most Led Zeppelin.
I have learned in recent months that I like Alice in Chains. They aren't anywhere near my favorites, but I still like them. Also Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rammstein.
-
My Top Four would have to be...
1. George Thorogood: "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
2. Led Zeppelin: "Achilles Last Stand"
3. Audioslave: "Show Me How to Live"
4. Linkin Park: Possibly "Place for My Head"
Other bands I enjoy include Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Chevelle, and many others.
-
That's not what rock is about!
Of course it is! Rock is all about drugs, and sex, and violence, and swearing, and all that kind of stuff.
-
...
classical music wasn't much different CTOAN.
-
Classical music is all that minus swearing. And not always the other things, but often times.
-
Now, let's be fair here, neither classification of music is all about the aforementioned subjects.
-
Rap is actually very close though...
-
Not all of it.

-
Wow! You had all of those on top of your head in alphabetical order. Impressive.
-
Yeah, so, I bought Straight Outta Lynwood today. Man, it's too crazy. "Trapped in a Drive-Thru" shoots straight up to at least the 3rd-most-hilarious song I've heard from him, at least. It's like I'm being told a story of the drive-thrus in this town... by myself.
Edit: Man, forget 3rd. It's way greater. It's the best thing I've ever heard.
-
I can't wait to get that CD, Bird Person.
-
Wow! Just Wow! Baby/Lullaby versions of bands like Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Metallica, and many more: http://www.babyrockrecords.com/web/page.asp?pgs=products
A few of them even have free samples. It's mostly music box lullabies, but that's probably the only way my wife's gonna let me play Metallica for the baby anyway.
Edit: After listening to most of the samples I think I'll get Pink Floyd and Metallica. The are a dollar or two cheaper at Amazon.com, but they don't have samples or all of the CDs.
-
Oh goodness, I got Straight Outta Lynwood today, and "Trapped In The Drive-Thru" is one of the funniest if not the funniest.
-
I can't wait to get that CD, it looks amazing.
-
http://koopaslaya.googlepages.com/CDs.txt

BRAIN SALAD SURGERY - ELP
FRANCIS THE MUTE - THE MARS VOLTA
THE FLOWER KING - ROINE STOLT
-
Various Artists Powerpuff Girls: The City of Soundsville
OK, I never expected that.
-
Yes, I own that. I always thought that the Powerpuff Girls were funny, when I was like 10. If you notice, I listed them all, even Now 4, which I belive, is slightly more embarassing than the Powerpuff Girls.
Also, I just updated it.

The Beatles Let It Be… Naked Fly on the Wall
wha....
-
THe Fly on the Wall was a bonus disc witht he limited edition of Let it Be... Naked. THe Fly on the wall is a 30 minutes session of the Beatles recording various things in studio. It is a very interesting listen, really.
-
Oh, that sounds really neat Koopaslaya.
-
Adding: Whoever wrote the music for Mega Man ZX
-
I like a lot of golden oldies and I don't know the artist XD. But anyways, I like P!nk.
