Title: Fungi Forums 2006: A year in review...
Post by: Jman on December 19, 2006, 11:39:47 PM
This is the first time in 3 years that I have done this.  Post all of the reasons why you think 2006 was a great year for the FF.  I know it may be a little early, but better early than late, eh?  Anyway,  I thought 2006 was a great year because:

-The forum received a major facelift, as well as new features.
-Boo_Penguin was "the man" in the chatroom
-We had a wealth of quality members join the forums.
-New boards.

Don't those happen every year, minus maybe the forum "facelift"?

If you mean the move from the old primitive cave-board, that was last year.

And I think the only new board is Game Blog.

I nominate the awesome return of Eclipsed Moon to be added to the list.

Hmm...not to be pessimistic, by which I mean I do, but not a whole lot of notable stuff happened FF-wise in '06. I mean, yeah, there was the boo_penguin thing, but that's all I can recall...

Oh, wait! I remember! Exploding Barrels and the FF were mentioned on Wikipedia on their page on fictional games.

I joined this year, as well.

I was actually lurking for 2 or 3 years, but due to reasons beyond my control (didn't have an email adress ):), I couldn't join.On the other hand, a lot of good members joined this year, so I guess I registered at the right time :D.

I'll finish the darn story! I've just been having a hectic life, and now that I've had some time to relax, I'm working on the next chapter.

Anyway...hilights of 2006...I can't think of any. Except there were lots of a screen-name changes. It was almost a trend.

Okay, maybe they weren't "wars," but there definitely was a time when they were being given out, sometimes as humiliation, in response to what some people said.

I was perfonally a fan of the degrading CT's. They put people in their places, and shut them up if they said stupid things.
Title: Re: Fungi Forums 2006: A year in review...
Post by: BP on December 28, 2006, 02:23:57 PM
I agree, especially for those who got that CT, "Banned."
Title: Re: Fungi Forums 2006: A year in review...
Post by: SolidShroom on December 28, 2006, 03:51:37 PM
The degrading CTs didn't really work on some folks though (think coolkid).
Title: Re: Fungi Forums 2006: A year in review...
Post by: Koopaslaya on December 28, 2006, 05:35:29 PM
The outcomes of the negtive CTs were threefold. All had a positive impact on the community.
1. The member would leave on his own.
2. The member would do something stupid, and then be banned.
3. The member would reform his/her ways, and would become a good member of the community.

I, thus, never had a problem with them.

Huh, I was also a receiver of a custom title at one time. I think it came because I said something along the lines of "I'd hate to have a negative CT."

Heh. It seems I win the contest of "Degrading" CTs.
Quote
Mr.Melee   Not Member of the Year // Nostalgia delusional // Super Smash Bother // Every other turn // Uncle
However, I was an uber n00b at the time, mixing up the definitions of "fourm" and "chatroom" (I was actually a computer newb at the time, too). I have since then apologized. And if I haven't, I am sorry.

Hmm. A lot of great things have happened in the year 2006. Yes, we had a lot of good members and bad members turned good, many good topics (but more bad ones), But, we did have events that did stick out, Including: TEM's picture of his dog with the rainbow background; fuzzy; Fungi High (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=9114.0); and Sapphira's vacation in Washington. I am certain there are many others that I cannot name right now. Nonetheless, a good year it was for The Mushroom Kingdom.

Looks like it was, originally.

[Origin: 1545–55; var. (after F) of pennache, French, from Italian pinnacchio, plume, from Late Latin pinn?culum, diminutive of Latin pinna, feather, wing; see  pet- in Indo-European roots.]

XD to Markio and Red's replies.

"In medias res" is a cool term. I think I learned it in middle school or freshman year of HS.
