This is the first time in 3 years that I have done this. Post all of the reasons why you think 2006 was a great year for the FF. I know it may be a little early, but better early than late, eh? Anyway, I thought 2006 was a great year because:
-The forum received a major facelift, as well as new features.
-Boo_Penguin was "the man" in the chatroom
-We had a wealth of quality members join the forums.
-New boards.
-
Don't those happen every year, minus maybe the forum "facelift"?
-
If you mean the move from the old primitive cave-board, that was last year.
-
And I think the only new board is Game Blog.
I nominate the awesome return of Eclipsed Moon to be added to the list.
-
Wealth of quality members? I want to see a list.
-
And I think the only new board is Game Blog.
Video Game Chat was spawned from General Chat.
-
A necessary middle ground.
-
Hmm...not to be pessimistic, by which I mean I do, but not a whole lot of notable stuff happened FF-wise in '06. I mean, yeah, there was the boo_penguin thing, but that's all I can recall...
Oh, wait! I remember! Exploding Barrels and the FF were mentioned on Wikipedia on their page on fictional games.
-
No doubt put there by someone here, so what's the big deal?
-
I joined.
-
I joined this year, as well.
I was actually lurking for 2 or 3 years, but due to reasons beyond my control (didn't have an email adress ):), I couldn't join.On the other hand, a lot of good members joined this year, so I guess I registered at the right time :D.
-
Don't forget that Luigison had a daughter earlier in the year.
-
Fungi Forums 2006: A year in review...
-Boo_Penguin was "the man" in the chatroom
He wasn't exactly "the man" in the forums. (https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
-
I joined this year, on January 2nd. Yay?
-
Bird Person and I created the Angst and Hopeful thread. Does that count as something good for 2006?
-
Don't forget that Luigison had a daughter earlier in the year.
Ha ha! I believe you mean Luigison's wife.
-
Oh...then what did Lugison have?
-
Well he didn't have a good night's sleep.
-
Lets see...
Luigison is a dad, Mr.Melee is an uncle, Boo_penguin post on the forums, I've become a good member instead of a horrid n00B with
bad grammar, we have ALL improved, Khold left us :(...I'll think of more later.
-
Hyrulian has made the great story of Fungi High, which will most likely, not be completed, where the heck is he at, anyway??
-
It was a Great Year Because I'm on! u all suk
-
Wow, a newbie.
EDIT:
Not another n00B!
-
A! That's n00b to you! get it right or suffer dire consiquenses....
-
Newbie = New person.
N00b = Idiot spammer.
Yeah, PtPeach. Get it right, seriously.
-
Thanks for the correction, Bird Person! I'll look into it!
-
WTD is wrong with him?? *zaps noob with a lazer*
-
WTD is wrong with him?? *zaps noob with a lazer*
Yeah, some guy who comes on at the end of a great year to tell us we suck...very wise and mature...NOT!
-
Sort of reminds me of that member called Mario Hater, he came to a mario forum just to bash him.. Wierd...
-
I'm gonna hurt Harpie if I get the chance.
-
Hyrulian has made the great story of Fungi High, which will most likely, not be completed, where the heck is he at, anyway??
I'll finish the darn story! I've just been having a hectic life, and now that I've had some time to relax, I'm working on the next chapter.
Anyway...hilights of 2006...I can't think of any. Except there were lots of a screen-name changes. It was almost a trend.
-
Not to mention the custom title wars.
-
CT wars? Why wasn't I informed???
-
Simply because they did not happen.
-
Okay, maybe they weren't "wars," but there definitely was a time when they were being given out, sometimes as humiliation, in response to what some people said.
-
That's how custom titles are used on forums.
-
I was perfonally a fan of the degrading CT's. They put people in their places, and shut them up if they said stupid things.
-
I agree, especially for those who got that CT, "Banned."
-
The degrading CTs didn't really work on some folks though (think coolkid).
-
The outcomes of the negtive CTs were threefold. All had a positive impact on the community.
1. The member would leave on his own.
2. The member would do something stupid, and then be banned.
3. The member would reform his/her ways, and would become a good member of the community.
I, thus, never had a problem with them.
-
Does Mario Maniac continuing his propogandaish posts about both Sony and Nintendo and still not being banned yet count for anything?
-
Does [insert any of long list of certain forumgoers] continuing his propogandaish posts about both Sony and Nintendo and still not being banned yet count for anything?
-
Huh, I was also a receiver of a custom title at one time. I think it came because I said something along the lines of "I'd hate to have a negative CT."
-
You guys are lucky to even have one.
-
I had a CT once, but know, it's lost in the woods, and I can't find it..
-
SushieBoy speshal
-
I think 2006 was a great year for threads and more in depth discussions. Lets just say it seemed a lot less immature around here after the face lift.
-
And It was all thanks to me!
-
Let's not over exaggerate ourselves.
-
I try to but I can't
-
On the topic of custom titles, I'm glad mine's gone. It kinda bugged me and made me feel like a bad person.
-
I really didn't understand my CT. I guess it meant my speech profiled me???
-
Prolific as in plentiful. If I may say so, you used to post at an obnoxiously fast rate.
-
I found out from the personality survey that I could be a deviant, is that good or bad, I have found in some cases it could be a turn off?
-
It could be either or. I'll look it up...
deviant: one who deviates
deviate: to differ, as in thought or belief
-
Nevermind, I looked it up and I'm not. It could be bad, or just awkward, but I'm not.
-
Heh. It seems I win the contest of "Degrading" CTs.
Mr.Melee Not Member of the Year // Nostalgia delusional // Super Smash Bother // Every other turn // Uncle
However, I was an uber n00b at the time, mixing up the definitions of "fourm" and "chatroom" (I was actually a computer newb at the time, too). I have since then apologized. And if I haven't, I am sorry.
Hmm. A lot of great things have happened in the year 2006. Yes, we had a lot of good members and bad members turned good, many good topics (but more bad ones), But, we did have events that did stick out, Including: TEM's picture of his dog with the rainbow background; fuzzy; Fungi High (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=9114.0); and Sapphira's vacation in Washington. I am certain there are many others that I cannot name right now. Nonetheless, a good year it was for The Mushroom Kingdom.

I joined the forums back in January 2006.
-
My running gag of not knowing who StrongLad (???) is, and the chef will come and post a link to the website.
-
That dog pic is getting old.
-
This year dear Khold left us. When did she leave anyways? She was always really nice to me. Oh yeah. Game Over got banned.
-
My running gag of not knowing who StrongLad (???) is, and the chef will come and post a link to the website.
Strong Bad, man. Why won't you you just go to www.homestarrunner.com already? At least take a look at it....
-
Screw Housestar Runner, I have Mario!
-
Game Over got banned.
Harpie, coolkid, Yoshi55 (I think), mario 2_Gold, Martini, fuzzy.................
I think this year was the year of the banning.
-
Oh man, Harpie got my "WTD" award. And then Lizard Dude ^_^
-
Don't forget Stairemaster!
-
Harpie, coolkid, Yoshi55 (I think), mario 2_Gold, Martini, fuzzy.................
I think this year was the year of the banning.
you forgot Fairemaster
-
...... You forgot Fairemaster!
-
Like I said, this was the year of the banning.
ZackAttack was one that comes to mind. He created about 10 topics in one day, all with meaningless statements.
-
Don't forget jeevanathan and NBCgod (that was the name??)
-
Screw Housestar Runner, I have Mario!
So do I, but everyone needs a little Homestar at some point. ;)
-
Zuh??
-
Just go to the freakin' website already!!
-
You tell 'em, Strong ba...I mean, The Chef!
-
This is the worst reminiscence topic ever.
-
I'm reliving its badness already.
-
It would be a shame if all that we did in 2007 was talk about 2006.
-
And then we'd talk about 2007 in 2008...
-
And all the members that were gone and the new president in 2009.
-
2008 would be like the second episode of Clerks.
-
At least in 2006 Sapphira finally posted the rest of The Prophecy!
Oh wait...
>:(
-
Uh.....no.
-
Doesn't everyone get it? It is finished. It ended in medias res. A very powerful move on Sapph's part to break away from literary norms.
-
Hahahahaha.
Actually I'm posting to say how cool Red is for using cool terms like "in medias res."
-
This is the first time I remember learning something here since Markio taught me the word panache!
-
I learned panache from Mario & Luigi, I believe. I had to look up "medias res" because the context didn't seem specific enough, but yes, I learned something new!
-
I learned panache from Calvin & Hobbes.
-
I am willing to bet that is a latin term.
-
Looks like it was, originally.
[Origin: 1545–55; var. (after F) of pennache, French, from Italian pinnacchio, plume, from Late Latin pinn?culum, diminutive of Latin pinna, feather, wing; see pet- in Indo-European roots.]
-
XD to Markio and Red's replies.
"In medias res" is a cool term. I think I learned it in middle school or freshman year of HS.
