Video Game Chat / Re: Dota 2 and Dota 2 Related Shenanigans
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:26:14 AM »
Dota 2 is a pretty cool game. I haven't played it in months, though, because I've been busy with other games (Guild Wars 2 and loads of non-PC stuff).

I guess I'd be up for some co-op vs. AI games sometime. I also have a bunch of invites for the game if anyone needs one.

I love that some of these old-school Japanese composers are now doing music work for smaller western games. Along with what's going on for Shovel Knight (which I should probably pledge for, because I dig WayForward and virt), Michiru Yamane (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) did the soundtrack for Skullgirls, and is onboard for no less than seven new tracks for the DLC.

I'm quite interested in Bravely Default as well, though.

(That said, I saw the article long before BriGuy linked it here.)

Said noted 4chan poster named after an Internet meme, Weegee.

I didn't get pictures of them, but the CDs from this Kickstarter also arrived. Also, the shipping window for Ouyas opened today, so I should get an email soon about mine going out.

A bunch of stuff I've had arrive in the mail in the past couple of weeks:

The games whose titles are in Japanese are Rhythm Tengoku and Umihara Kawase Shun SE Kanzenban (the best version of a very fun grappling hook-based platformer; it had a 3DS sequel announced a short time ago).

At the time of writing, the funding campaign is at just over $721K.

At $725K, they'll expand the Robo-Fortune bonus voice pack into a complete playable character, along with donating the Z Engine to the Mane6 team.

Right now, these are the add-ons confirmed to be funded from this campaign:

-Squigly (character)
-Big Band (character)
-Mystery third character (character to be determined by voting from funders)
-Republican Double (voice pack)
-Robo-Fortune (voice pack, possibly character)
-Female Announcer (commentator pack)
-Salty Parasoul (voice pack)
-Drunk Commentator (commentator pack)
-Valley Girl Painwheel (voice pack)
-Saxploitation (voice pack)
-Anime Peacock (voice pack)
-Real Soviet Announcer (commentator pack)

So everyone except Filia, Cerebella, and Squigly will be getting new voice packs. Cerebella's VA (who's also the VA director for the game) donated an announcer pack instead, and Squigly and Filia each have two VAs, which causes some logistics problems.

Hsien-Ko is pretty awesome.

Wait, crush? Never mind.

It's too well-animated to be porn.

Skullgirls is one of the two fighting games I've been actively interested in lately (the other being Capcom classic Vampire Savior). I have it on both platforms it's on now (and just bought a new fightstick for my PS3 so I can actually play it on there again), and pledged $30 for the Indiegogo campaign as soon as possible after it went up. If Indiegogo's pledging system didn't suck, I would have pledged another $20 as soon as I found out about the "drunk commentator" stretch goal.

I'm hyped for the new characters, not necessarily because I plan to play as Squigly, Big Band, or the mystery character, but because it's a reason I'll be able to play against certain #tmk people who don't have any interest otherwise.

The concept is hilarious. The gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

Worth a shot if you're a Tingle fan, at least.

That's part of why I use a PC monitor as a TV (for game systems, anyway) instead of the other way around. A lot of HDTVs have obnoxious post-processing effects that can't be disabled and result in horrible input lag, which is murder for any sort of timing-based gaming.

Four of those options are "keep it," but I get what you mean. I'll probably keep my Wii when I get a Wii U, but the Wii will remain connected to the same display it is now, while the Wii U will be connected to my desktop monitor like my PS3 and 360 are, and none of the options here address that possibility. (I guess "hack it," but that's how it is already.)

More than half the people who have voted in this thread have gotten the question wrong. That's absolutely "interesting," and why it's been brought up over and over.
