Kat (Gravity Rush) and Emmett Graves (Starhawk) are available as DLC for this game today. They'll be free for everyone for the first two weeks, so I recommend people with PS3s and/or Vitas and/or existing Sony Entertainment Network accounts grab it even if they don't have the game.
I'm still holding out for a $20 sale on PSN before I buy it myself, but I've played a friend's copy a bunch and really enjoy it. The basic gameplay is very different from Super Smash Bros., and not in a bad way; the "arena fighter" structure is similar, but last I checked, that's how a genre works. The "familiar characters" and "nostalgia" issues a lot of people have don't affect me at all either, considering I main Donte and Heihachi, characters from series I have zero emotional investment in.

Weegee, I'm still waiting for Final Fantasy Type-0, which is an actual Final Fantasy game and was already officially confirmed for localization in every way except actually being given a US release date.

There's no reason for a professional release to look like the Devil May Cry HD Collection, either, but whoops, that sure did come out and look like a PS2 game in every possible way except display resolution.

Remaking 2D games in 3D is generally a Bad Idea. A lot of gameplay concepts and level designs don't transition well from 2D to 3D, and if you're changing stuff to suit the new design, you might as well just make a new game.
Remaking GameCube games for Wii U is a great idea, and I trust Nintendo to do a great job with any remakes that end up happening.
(As an aside, anyone who hates the idea of graphics-enhanced remakes now is going to want to kill themselves next generation when we get things like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare HD and Okami HD HD.)

So instead of getting a very cheap Japanese copy of Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable, I got a free copy of the US version from a Facebook giveaway. I'm really happy with this.
