Video Game Chat / Re: Worst ways to die in a video game.
« on: January 27, 2007, 04:54:25 PM »
How about running out of energy, getting hit, spinning wildly out of control, flying off of the edge, and hurtling into the ground where a massive explosion happens.  (Actually it looks kinda cool.)  Of course, there's also those rays of death on Quick Man's level in Mega Man 2....

EclipedMoon, what game is that from?

Also Fwirt... where is your proof that SMRPG, being one of the more complex SNES titles, has been successfully emulated on GBA? I'm really quite sure SNES->GBA emulation is nowhere near that good yet.
And your suggestion of a homebrew port makes me want to scream out in laughter, also. I mean, it might theoretically work with enough people working on it, but stuff like that really usually doesn't happen.

Good point, I hadn't really checked out SNES -> GBA that much.  I just saw it and went, "OOOooooo"
I homebrew port might work.....  If all the whining people actually worked on it.  Soooo many people have signed those dang petitions, but no one seems to want to do anything about it...

To quote the Wikipedia:
Quote
Adding to the confusion, the game Mario Superstar Baseball and Nintendo's official website for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time refer to Toadsworth as Peach's father--which would be confusing even without the existence of a previous "Mushroom King," as Toadsworth (an anthropomorphic mushroom) and Peach (a human) are apparently members of two different species.
So, I think Toadsworth really has replaced the Mushroom Chancellor/King Toadstool.  Unless the Mushroom Chancellor's name is actually Toadsworth....

Here's the Wii code of my friend Matt "Tboneman" :

I'll probably post mine as soon as I get a Wii...

It's safe, but hard to use.

Anyway, what I think is sad is that people actually take hours out of there day to sit here and look at what other people have to say to them, and then spend more hours thinking of a witty comeback line.

This topic is what makes me angry because it facilitates more whining than is necessary.

Unless you're talking about the species of clouds from SMRPG, which are clearly much smaller than Huff 'n' Puff.  I don't think they're cannibalistic.

But then wouldn't it be "The Republic of Mushroom Land" ?  But it's the Mushroom Kingdom, so it has to be a monarchy, right?

Whoops, it's been a while since I played that.  I meant AoL but LA is fun too :)  Besides, AoL sounds like the popular ISP...  (My terminology screw-ups drive Chupperson insane.  Oh, and I have the gold cartridge version of AoL.)

Anyway, the emulation is good enough, just not perfect.  If someone who's good at programming for GBA wanted to try to port it, I'm sure it would take a lot less time than actually waiting for Nintendo to listen to the petitions and make a GBA/DS version.  Nintendo would probably screw up SMRPG with those annoying "new" bits and horrible voiceovers anyway...

Actually, the clouds are probably organisms because they have eyes.  So do the hills though...  The Hills Have Eyes... wasn't that the name of a horror movie?

(I can't believe we're talking about this either.)

Why don't Mario's overalls ever get dirty if he's a plumber?

Zelda 2 as in LoZ:LA?  I looove that game but it's dang hard.  I can only get to Ganon's Castle with almost no life left. Anyway, on the subject of this topic...

Pocket SNES + GBA Flash Cart + SMRPG Rom = SMRPG on your GBA/DS! Tada!

But I own SMRPG for SNES so I don't need that!  Hahaha.

I always thought it was completly canonical. I also think the Chancellor does the real ruling of the Mushroom Kingdom and that Peach is merely the Kingdom's figurehead.

That's what I usually think, but somehow Toadsworth seems to be looking after the Princess nowadays.  I just wonder what they did with the chancellor (maybe Toadsworth keeps him locked in the basement.)  I wish that Nintendo would bring back more elements of SMRPG into recent games.  Geno was in M&L:SS but I'd like to see Mallow around sometime...

Perhaps the water in the Mushroom world is far more polar than our water, allowing it to hold up incredibly large objects.  In vapor form, the water's polarity allows Mario to sort of hover, but while in liquid form, the polarity breaks the surface tension, preventing Mario from floating?  That's as logical and scientific as I can come up with.

That's interesting...  But how can there be more than one Bowser's Castle at the same time?

If I had to pick a demise for myself between incineration and freezing, I'd pick the former for a variety of reasons. Oh, and snow is calming.

Did you mean the latter Suffix?  I think turning into an ice cube is infinitely better than having all of your nerves burn off of your flesh before you die.
Anyway, you get this new version of Bliss if you download the Royale Windows theme which is what I have on my Desktop right now:

And I made this Mischief Makers background from the manual cover (since I like MM so much) :
