Well, I was in the store the other day, when what should I see but a package of Mario gum.  It has Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Larry Koopa, Ludwig Koopa, Link, Donkey Kong, majora, Ganondorf, Diddy Kong, K. Rool, and Yoshi.  They taste good too, and only a $1.15

Nasty? No, I am merely pointing out a grammatical discrepancy with some minor sarcasm.

In your sentence, Link is my favorite flavor, you are using the linking verb "is" to link (Errrr, pun unintended) the subject, "Link", to the predicate nominative, "flavor". A predicate nominative essentially renames the subject. You are, if you take out all the modifiers, saying:

Link is flavor.

Thus, if you believe Link is a flavor, you must know what Link tastes like, or you wouldn't know what Link flavored gum tastes like.

I think you meant to say:

The Link gum HAS my favorite flavor.
