Mario Chat / Favorite Mario Realm
« on: May 22, 2006, 11:50:58 PM »
So yeah, what's your favorite realm Mario and co. have adventured through?  [Goodness] knows the Bros. have been to some exotic worlds throughout their 20+ years of Bowser-bashing.

Personally, I don't think I can pick just one.  I love the seven kingdoms from Super Mario Bros. 3 (though I just kind of lump them in as part of the Mushroom Kingdom), I love Yoshi's Island (from SMW2 in particular) and the Koopa Kingdom is consistently one of the coolest/[baddest] places.

But what are YOUR favorites?  Where would you like to see the next Mario Bros. adventure take place?

I left out Donkey Kong Country, Crocodile Isle and the Northern Kremisphere, because I consider the DKC series as separate from the Super Mario games.  That's also why I left off Diamond City, the setting for the Wario Ware games.  All of the above places rule, I just feel like they didn't fit in on the poll, which was already pretty packed.

Mario Chat / Re: when will we forget mario?

Anybody that really seriously enjoys the Mario games on a regular basis won't forget Mario.  It's just that simple.  Just like nobody will forget Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse.  Or Urkel.  Mario's an icon, man.  You don't just forget about an icon (unless, of course, you fall victim to Alzheimer's).

Mario Chat / Mario's World
« on: July 29, 2004, 12:56:31 AM »
We've seen every corner of the Mushroom Kingdom and then some... exotic isles and bustling cities and dense forests... but how does it all fit together?

That's what I'm asking you guys... preferably those of you with some spare time and photoshop skills.  I want to see how all of Mario's Worlds fit together in one image, one map that has the Mushroom Kindgom, Dinosaur Land, Yoshi's Island, Sarasaland, Wario Land, Sub-Con, Isle Delfino, the Beanbean Kingdom... the works.  Most of these places are Islands, so you can put 'em just about anywhere, but some of them (Beanbean Kingdom, Sub-Con) are a little more questionable. The trickiest part though, would be nailing down one complete version of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Thanks, and I look forward to everyone's interpretations.

Mario Chat / Mario box art
« on: July 22, 2003, 07:56:03 PM »
Hey guys.  TMK has some really cool pics of the original Japanese box art from the early Super Mario Bros. games, but they're kind of small/not wallpaper friendly. . . I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a site that has wallpaper-quality pics of the Japanese Super Mario Bros. games?  Thanks a ton.

Mario Chat / Random Sunshine thoughts
« on: October 29, 2002, 09:10:23 PM »
Yeah, what did you folks think of Mario Sunshine?

Personally, I thought Nintendo did an EXCELLENT job with following up the incredible Super Mario 64.  It was fun, it kept the gameplay feel of the original, had a fun plot twist, and did a darn good job of being different enough to make it feel fresh, but still maintaining that Mario feel.

Things that keep it from toppling Mario 3 on my list of favorites at #1 though are the tropical theme (it only allowed for tropical levels. . . more variety would have been cool, but it was also cool Nintendo stuck with the theme), there were only a few (but huge and beautiful) worlds, and the Yoshi's were weird (where's the tongue?  or green Yoshies?)

I'd give it a 9 out of 10.  Awesome game.  I LOVE IT.  I haven't even gotten all 120 shines yet. . .jeez. :(.  I've got about 88 or so as of now.  Thank you Nintendo!  Now I just have MarioKart Cubed to wait for. . .

There's my thoughts on Sunshine. . . I wanna hear yours now

Okay, this might sound cheesy, but. . .

I'd really like to hear some feedback about The Brothers Mario.  If you haven't read it yet, go check it out already!!  Keep in mind it's an always evolving work in progress that I add to periodically, so read, but don't add, please.

Please tell me what you think of it!  I really want to know if people are even reading it or not, so please, post your feedback about The Brothers Mario.  I'm really curious as to what people think of it.

Mario Chat / Who?!

So, who do you think should/will be the endboss for Luigi's Mansion?  Would you rather see a familiar face or an all-new villain at the end of Luigi's spooky adventure?  Let's hear your thoughts.

Forum Games / The Brothers Mario
« on: June 16, 2001, 08:54:55 PM »
Prologue:

The Brothers Mario led lives of adventure and peril, from the very begining.  On their way to the home of their parents, Mario and Luigi were intercepted by the Koopa Klan's mightiest warlock, Kamek.  Kamek forsaw a future where the Turtle Tribe would crumble before two mighty brothers--our very own Mario and Luigi, and knew the only way to stop this would be to find and destroy the two heroes at birth.  While the wicked magikoopa managed to snatch up young Luigi, he lost hold of baby Mario, who plummeted towards the open sea, to an almost certain death.  For whatever reason, call it fate, call it luck, call it karma, Mario managed to land safely on the back of an errant Yoshi.  Sustaining, at the absolute worst, a dirty diaper and a bit of indigestion.

Kamek returned to his fortress deep within the Koopa Kingdom only to find that he missed half of his bounty.  Furious, he roared at his trio of toadies to scour the world for this infamous infant.

Meanwhile, the fateful Yoshi hauled young Mario back to the tribe of Yoshies, to come to some sort of decision as to what to do with this incredibly lucky child.  One Yoshi noted baby Mario pointing and gesturing to a point off beyond the sunny horizon.  The Yoshies agreed that there was some sort of connection between this baby from the sky and the far-off place he seemed to be obsessing over.  So, utilizing an ingenious Pony Express-style system, the Yoshies braved all odds to reunite baby Mario and his green-capped twin, Luigi.  After trekking across the hazardous terrain of Yoshi's Island and deep into the dark, deadly heart of the Koopa Kingdom, one plucky green Yoshi defeated the young Koopa King. . . Bowser.  From that day on, the Koopa Klan declared revenge on the Mario Brothers, and their "d@mned Yoshi accomplices."

The twins were finally delivered to their parents, Maria and Mario Senior.  Mario and Luigi were also introduced to their older brother, Wario.  Despite being a bit on the ugly side, Maria and Mario Sr. loved Wario, lavishing much affection towards him.  But soon after the Mario twins arrived, Wario became neglected by his parents.  And young Mario loved to play tricks on little Wario.  Wario, no older than four years old, wasn't able to realize that Mario was just an infant, and didn't know any better.  So, fed up with his family, Wario ran away with tears in his eyes.  What happened to Wario during his time away from home is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is for sure, his hatred for Mario blossomed into an obsession. . . Wario hated Mario from the bottom of his heart, and would do anything to show him up.

The Mario Bros. were still only babies when Maria and Mario Sr. started receiving death threats from the Turtle Tribe.  Finally, with heavy hearts, the Mario parents sent their last two sons into a warp pipe.

Luckily, that pipe led to an orphanage in Brooklyn, where the Mario Brothers would grow up, and live their lives. . . until now.

Mario Chat / Do you think. . .?
« on: May 27, 2001, 05:59:51 PM »
We'll ever see the guys from Paper Mario again?  As bad as it sucks, I think the phunky phellahs of paper are never going to see the light of day after PM.  Of course the pre-existing Mario characters will be back (Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, etc.) but the new guys (Jr. Troopa, Parakarry, the Koopa Bros., etc.) probably won't be coming back, and I think that sucks.

What do you think?  Do any characters who made their debut in Paper Mario have a chance of having a career?  Do you care?  Let's hear what you think.

Forum Games / Villian Wars!: Week 2
« on: May 13, 2001, 10:40:47 AM »
This weeks match-up:

/-=KAMEK VS. THE KOOPA KIDS=-/

-Brief bios:

~The Koopa Kids:  Bowser's seven evil brats: Lemmy, Larry, Roy, Morton Jr., Wendy O., Ludwig Von, and Iggy Koopa.  They take after their dad (good for Bowser, bad for Mario and Luigi), and proved invaluable to Bowser in both Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.  The Kids have also made appearance in many "lesser" Mario games.  Of course, in both SMB3 and SMW, they seemed kind of on the easy side, and we haven't seen them in years. . . are the Koopa Kids really just a bunch of push-overs?

=Kamek:  Kamek was once the most powerful force in the Koopa Clan.  When Bowser came along, Kamek raised the future King Koopa to be as evil as possible.  Kamek was the primary threat in Yoshi's Island, and appeared in Tetris Attack.  Kamek boasts a powerful brand of magic, but can his old bones stand up to the youthful Koopalings?

There are the contenders, now its up to YOU to decide who wins.  One vote per person, all votes must be cast by midnight Saturday night.  Remember, YOU determine the outcome of the fight!

Mario Chat / What is the deal with. . .
« on: May 08, 2001, 02:09:23 PM »
Tatanga?  That is, what kind of attacks does this guy have?  I know he flies around in a little spacesuit/robot thing (a "Pagosu" if I'm not mistaken) and was the end boss of Mario Land and was a lesser boss for Mario Land 2, but how does this guy attack Mario?

Information is always appreciated! :D
