« on: August 07, 2003, 07:07:49 AM »
I found a ROM of the japanese SMB2,(you know, the one that WASN'T riped off another great game) and it works, but only on an emulator that plays no sound. PLUS, it doesn't even show the title screen! And I think it has some glitches in it to, like you're playing the Luigi Game right? It says MARIO on the top of the screen where your point counter is. Pleez help me find a working one!!!

Yeah, but it doesn't work on my computer. I have Famtasia,RockNES,NESten, and, uh... FCE Ultra. FCE Ultra is the only one that works with that ROM, but that emulator doesn't have sound. And um, I don't think u can send it to me, but if u have a website, I can downloaad it from there, or u can tell me where u got it. Thanx a bunch!!!

Try NesterJ (Nester Japanese) as another emulator. It is located at:
http://www.dcn.ne.jp/~otim2/nesterj/en
It supports both .nes image roms and .fds files

(ROM link removed)

I used to frequent edge emulation, but until they required a username and password, I stopped going, because the confirmation email never got sent to me.

Well I would send you a great emmulation link, but its kind of illegal. Wait- is emulation legal at all? Even if you own the games you emulate?

HOLY TOAD!!! emulators are illegal?!?!?!

« Reply #12 on: April 20, 2004, 12:04:29 PM »
Only to Nintendo they are. Besides, there are emulators for other things besides Nintendo consoles. Like Atari emulators or Apple II emulators.

Emulators are legal even though Nintendo says they aren't (they produce emulators like for the Zelda disc or Animal Crossing).
ROMs are not legal unless you dump them yourself from media that you own (again despite what NOA says).
Both of these have been tested in court.
Oddly though, sales of copiers and mod chips tend to be ruled illegal.
ROM requests are also not allowed here regardless, so thread closed.
