It's probably just the image alone, with the empty space filled in with color.

Dang, TEM has a lot of free thisandthat crap on is desktop. I keep my icons at bare minimum. I finally got rid of that "share to web" icon.

That screen capture is pretty old, most of that stuff is deleted now.

I got all my icons from TMK. Except for the bad PM one at the bottom right, I just did that on paint.

Don't care about my desktop, really. I see it for max. 1 minute a day. My monitor is usually on an open window, so my start menu does all the work.
