Mario Chat / Re: What do you consider canon?

You're very welcome.  I noticed that you didn't post Super Mario World 2 as being considered canon.  May I ask why?  Simply out of curiousity.

Hmmm, that's a good way to look at it.  I suppose if they don't give us a storyline, then we can't be blamed for not acknowledging it, eh?  ^_^

Lol, it's a little sequal to Superstar Saga that this guy made.  It's actually very well done.

Lol, ahhh back to the old contact lens theory.

Seriously though, my theory on the koopas is that the bipedal koopas are native to the Dinosaur Islands (mainly Yoshi's Island).  Where as the quadrapedal koopas are native to the Mushroom Kingdom.  Did I already propose this idea?  If so, please forgive me.

Well actually, the Yoshi's ARE born with boots on.  If you look at the newborn baby Yoshis in Super Mario World, as well as in various other games, you can see that they pop right out of the egg with the boots already on.

As for the saddle, I always figured it was actually a shell.  Or the remnants/beginnings of one, evolutionary wise.

Well, the whole idea with that is that they aren't really "boots", so much as a form of calcified "hooves".  I know it's a stretch, but it's an idea.

So apparently not only does the Super Mushroom make Mario bigger, but stronger as well.

Another good question.  I always figured they just made them themselves.  Either that or they evolved naturally.  One theory that a friend of mine suggested was that they might be some sort of fungus or moss that grows on thier feet and provides them protection.

The same thing could be said for the Yoshis as well.

Hmm, what do you think a Marioverse-style city would look like if we ever actually got to see ti up close?  I think the cities in the Sonic Adventure series would be a pretty good representation.  Now I know alot of you would say it looks way too realistic to really fit in to the usually cartoonesque Mario series.  But just look at the intro to Wario Land 4.  And the city levels in the Mario Kart series.  I'm thinking that's a pretty good match.

Hmm, so it does.  Thank you for telling us about that, I had never seen it before.  Heres the link for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Well that seems to me like substantial proof that the Super Mushroom causes Mario to grow from what seems to be about the the same size he is in Mario Sunshine and 64 and those games.  Once again, I turn to Smash Bros. Melee for a proper size comparison.  Anyway, I'm sold on the subject.

As for Boswer's size variations throughout the games, we all know that he uses magic constantly.  So it was probably just another one of his attempts to be more menacing.

Very true, you all make good points.  Although I like to think that the Super Mushroom has some special qualities aside from just "making you normal".  I thought Smash Bros. Melee had the sizes pretty well put together.  But then again in the case of Mario already being super, how small would Mario be when he shrunk?  I think it's safe to assume, pretty freakin' tiny.  Two, three feet tall, maybe?     And once again this begs the question, does he shrink at all?  Or is it all a metaphor?

And in regards to the statement about Bowser's size, once again I figured they had it about right in Smash Bro. Melee.  True, it wasn't an actual "Mario" game perse, but I think managed the size comparisons pretty well.  So I guess that would make him, what?    Six, seven feet tall?  I'm not sure, I'll have to break out my gamecube and check up on that.

I suppose that could be true that they're all seperate kingdoms.  I had always figured that they were vassals under the rule of Princess Peach.  But I suppose that makes more sense that they are independant.

Just an quick offtopic question while we're talking about the SMB3 kings.  Did anyone ever find out what the deal was with the mouse looking king?  Is he supposed to be human?  Or did the transformation from Monty Mole back to his true form not go very well? ^_^
