Toadsworth calls them that because he is showing them respect. He works for Princess Peach, and therefore has likely learned to/has been taught to show respect to the Princess and her guests (most often of which are Masters Mario and Luigi).
Kinopio is the ultimate video game character! Who else can drive a kart, host parties, play tennis, give good advice and items, and is almost always happy??
