Ooh, they have Wonder Boy in Monster World?  I LOVED that game (though I liked Wonder Boy III better).
I'd SO get it if my shop channel were working.

...Speaking of Wonder Boy III, weren't they also going to include Sega Master System games on the virtual console at some point?

I have hopeful for finally getting around to getting the last 100 in Yoshi's Island DS.  The stage in question was the dreaded "Welcome to Yoshi's Tower" of Secret 1.

That is a seriously mean level.  And not in the good "evil" sense, either.  I don't know how they really expected anybody to 100 it...

I'm afraid the goombas now dance for a full half-hour.

Video Game Chat / Re: Anybody prefer SSB over SSBM?
« on: April 02, 2007, 09:26:26 PM »
Hm, I've always sort of rated the characters on the terms "ease of use" and "advancement potential".  Kirby, in my opinion, is one of the easiest characters to use, and a good choice for beginners.  But the potential isn't there; he just can't cut it when you try to play him seriously.  This has been true in both games.

As for the differences between the games... I appreciate SSB for what it was and what it began, but SSBM is just superior in nearly every way.   I'd played SSB again recently, and in comparison it's just so slow, the movements are much more constricted, the characters are much more imbalanced (not to mention the items)... There are certainly things that I've missed from the original, but Melee is just such an improvement; there's no going back.

A sequel to Shadow of the Colossus?

I may be wrong, but isn't that game meant to be the events taking place before Ico?

This could easily be Smash Bros. that they're playing...

Mario Chat / Re: Bros. Attacks or Bros. Items?
« on: March 03, 2007, 03:06:14 PM »
Definitely Bros. Attacks.  They were simply more fun to learn and to perform, especially once you learned the advanced techniques.  Not to mention the versatility you get at that point.  And I liked drawing from the replenishable bros. points much better than using a finite item.

And then there's the issue that I thought M&L:SS was a much better game than M&L:PiT in many ways, which doubtlessly relates to my preference here.

Still, a number of the items WERE pretty fun to use (like losing oneself in the clone flower's process, and just kinda zoning out and laughing at how fast it's getting).  But for me it's Bros. Attacks all the way.

Very nice.  Very thorough.

And I don't know if you noticed this and just thought it too insignificant to report, but there seems to be a slight difference with the side-curtains on the character select screen.  The final version simply extends inwards a little more.

For the Nintendo club, there is a switch (that you can see from the Nintendo Club's island) that you need to press.  To do this, you'll need to employ some local avian help.

The logical progression of the unwanted letter deal goes like this:
- It has to be someone who can access the postbox.  The guy nearest to the postbox clearly doesn't care about it, therefore
- It has to be someone who is walking, so that he can GET to the postbox.  Only two people in town are walking anywhere, therefore
- It has to be one of those people.  Talk to 'em, and see if you can glean further.

The bottomless pit, pure and simple.

Nothin' quite like instant death just for mis-timing a jump.

Am I allowed to pick a creature/character from my own game?

If not, I'm sure I'd pick a Yoshi.
'Cause, y'know, Yoshis're awesome.
