Play-Asia is sending out emails to let customers know that the Datel Freeloader does not work with the Japanese version of Mario Kart Wii. Below is the full email that a gonintendo.com visitor received from Play-Asia:

This is an important e-mail update regarding your pending preorder Mario Kart Wii (w/ Wii Handle) (Nintendo™ Wii Japan, NTSC J). We received the first small delivery today for testing and unfortunately we have to inform you, that the game is not compatible with the Datel Freeloader (US and PAL Version). In case that this affects your preorder, please contact our customer service as soon as possible to amend/cancel your order, as otherwise we will ship your order within the next 48 hours. If you own a Japanese Wii and you do not want to change your orders, you do not have to reply to this email.

Once again thanks for shopping with us and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

This may be bad news for importers, but quite frankly I believe the release dates are so close together you shouldn't need to import. Now, <a href="http://themushroomkingdom.net/games/ssbb'>Super Smash Bros. Brawl[/url] is another story...

<Kojinka> When I saw this thread back on top, I was afraid this was gonna be another pointless bump by a new member, but when I saw Super-Jesse's username, my fears were laid to rest.

No surprise.  Nintendo had already fixed the exploit that the Freeloader was using in the previous firmware update, but no game was yet using the fix.  It's no surprise that the next big game would use it.

Well, I mean, it is basically unlicensed software, right?
