Mario Chat / Re: So what's next?
« on: October 13, 2002, 08:14:45 PM »
Hmm, I think having Sonic and Mario in the same game would cause a lot of friction. But I'd really like to see Mallow and Geno from SMRPG in Smash. They've already got moves, and they probably wouldn't end up as clones of anyone.

Video Game Chat / Re: Which of these Nintendo films would you...

Hmm, a Starfox movie sounds pretty kewl. It's got a pretty usable plotline, and they could use makeup techniques like in Planet Of The Apes to make the actors look right. A Zelda movie could work, as long as it didn't try to steal LOTR territory. Whoever plays Link would be Hollywood's latest stud. :D And I think a Mario movie should get another shot. SMB: The Movie sucked because they changed too much and made it too much live-action, ideally it could be like the Final Fantasy movie, all computer-animated. SMRPG could work for a movie, it's got enough plot and the team of characters would be more interesting than just Mario doing stuff.

Oh yeah, and I wrote up an account of the Mario movie. It's pretty sarcastic and cracks some dodgey jokes, but it's detailed. It's at the website I co-webmaster, http://www.geocities.com/pyratroopa .

Yeah, I like Kirby. Especially since I've started watching the Kirby anime, he's so KYUTE! I can't place Meta Knight's accent, anybody know what that is?

Mario Chat / Re: How to hit over 1200 feets at SSBM??
« on: October 07, 2002, 07:31:24 PM »
You can get a pretty good score with Fox, just hammer B to fire his Blaster as fast as you can, and leave just enough time for a good Smash.

I got a good score with Roy too, skip picking up the bat, Smash up a few times, and leave enough time to fully charge his blade by holding B. Ideally, hit the bag as it's falling. Roy should take 10% damage and the explosion will send Sandbag really far, I got about 1300 feet.

Yoshi's strategy of lots of downward kicking works for Jigglypuff too, I've got about 1200 feet with her.

And I got around 1300 with Ganondorf, I forget how...I think it was lots of upward Smashing and a right Smash as the bag was falling...Just be careful to time his Smashes so that the bag goes up and not forward. Good luck!

Frighteningly enough, a mega-console might do well. One of the main arguments I hear from Xbox fans is that the Gamecube sucks because it "only plays video games". Err, personally, that's the only reason I buy video games. I certainly don't want Mario and Kirby to expertly shuffle-play my music archive or tape Survivor. ...Not that I'd mind.... Well, anyways, depending on the quality of the TV and other stuff, it might do well. Everything would be serviced by one well-known company, instead of buying a bunch of cheap electronics from gawd knows where. I'm a loyal Nintendo fangirl and all, but I can see why Sony would be toying with an idea like that. If they can make it cheap and profitable, it just might work, crazier things have happened.

1) Mario RPG. Hands freaking down. The character development and interaction are priceless.
2) Super Smash Brothers Melee. Bowser's soooo kewl...And the concept rocks.
3) Mario Sunshine. I lost my copy and I'm really sad...-_- I love FLUDD!
4) Kirby Super Star. Kirby is great in general, creatures like Dyna Blade and Meta Knight only add to the kewlness.
5) Yoshi's Island. Veddy fun and cute. And Baby Bowser, I mean, come on!

Yeah, that's all for my actual favourites, there's lots of games I like.

General Chat / Re: do you have a girlfriend?
« on: October 04, 2002, 10:51:58 PM »
I don't have a girlfriend. But that's because I'm a straight gal. :p I don't have a boyfriend either, but it's not because I'm too shy, I tend to weird guys out. Like last Valentine's Day, I gave a guy a Valentine. It was shaped like a duck and made of neon orange paper. He looked at me like I was some kinda psychopath, it was funny. :D

You know what could work as a pickup line? Use the tactic that was used on me a few years ago. A guy scratched his phone number into a bagel, gave me the bagel, and said that I could call him and then eat the bagel. I threw it out cuz, I mean, I didn't know where that bagel had been, but I remembered it didn't I?

Getting embarrassed by buying kids' toys? Pah! This summer I walked into a local Dairy Queen and saw that they had Digimon plush toys. So I freaked out, got happy-hyper, and bought 2. No food. Just toys. Fortunately, the employees knew me, so they didn't call security on my spazz fit or anything. ^_^ There's nothing wrong with ordering a kids' meal, folks.

Microsoft will succeed, unfortunately. Some people like features such as insane memory capacity and the ability to play music while playing a game. I know this because I've been having a heated debate with an Xbox owner over the past 3 days. And he's got large hands, so he doesn't mind the horrible chunky controller. I was absolutely devastated to find out that Microsoft is going to be buying up Squaresoft in a few years, I sure hope Nintendo gets their act together and saves the SMRPG characters from oblivion before then. Actually, everyone was laughing at my reaction of complete shock-horror. Well, you try screeching, "Noooooooo! What about Mallow and Geno?!" in school hallway and see if you don't get funny looks. :p

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Music Sheets
« on: October 03, 2002, 07:45:26 PM »
Hmm, just today I was considering giving my school's music department some Mario music. I don't play, but I can hear the music classes playing while I'm in art class. Art is a quiet class, so I figured it'd be good to have a familiar tune to listen to. ^_^ Maybe the Forest Maze music from SMRPG, I think that's got enough different instruments in it...I used to play the trumpet, but I sucked at it. I had a hard enough time with Celine Dion songs, never mind video game music. Hey, know what'd really rock? The Hyrule Temple theme from SSBM!

Heidi Caroline Vlach. Heidi's an uncommon enough name that no one else in my school has it and I don't have to bother writing my last name on stuff, which is always nice. ^_^

My fave character is Bowser, partly for his delightful role in SMRPG. Mallow and Geno rock too, I'm a pretty big fan of them. And I'm fairly fond of Shyguys.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario or Super Mario?
« on: September 25, 2002, 08:08:30 PM »
Maybe Nintendo thought that the whole doubling-size thing would be too hard to program and plan games for on the 3-D systems. Maybe they decided to give players more hits with the life meter system so that the games could be harder. Or maybe hissy parents were getting mad over the apparent drug reference. I think they kept "Super" in Mario's title just because it's a kewler name for a hero.

Mario Chat / Re: Do you think Peach is hot?
« on: September 23, 2002, 07:30:55 PM »
Ah, I guess Peachie's OK. It'd help if she were smarter than most squirrels. Now Fox, on the other hand, is hot. And Link. And Roy. And one time I thought Spyro was attractive. *thinks* Yeah, that's all I can think of offhand.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with finding fictional characters attractive (as I'm sure you can tell :D). Just as long as you don't totally ignore real people in favour of video game icons.

Mario Chat / Re: Baby Mario not Mario??? Rumors...
« on: September 05, 2002, 07:46:33 PM »
I don't recall Kamek mentioning Bowser's parents in any way...

And my take on Bowser Jr. is the old standby excuse: Magikoopas. Nintendo hasn't mentioned Bowser having a female companion of any sort, and the Koopalings kind of faded away without having their mom explained either. Bowser's a pretty busy guy to be hitting singles bars, so he prolly just had his Magikoopas do their stuff and produce him an heir. And when Bowser Jr. grew up and asked where his mom was, it would have been much easier to just blame Peachie (maybe a little wishful thinking too, if you consider Paper Mario canon :p). From there it would have been cake to convince the kid that that rascal Mario is the reason his momma's never around.
