Mario Chat / Papa was not changed to Mario.

Papa was changed to Toad. I have hard evidence:
Papa runs faster when he carries an item. So does Toad. Mario runs slower when he carries an item.
When characters are hit, they fly into the air (except in SMB2 when they shrink at one heart). Walk into an enemy with Papa. He jumps a little, but can't land on a Shyguy. Do the same with Toad when you have 3 or more hearts. Toad can't land on a Shyguy from injury kickback either. Now try with Mario. He'll land on a Shyguy's head from injury kickback.
