After one game, is there really much of a storyline for anyone to care about?

Glad you asked. No.

And yet they refuse to let anything that happens in the Mario games be "just 'cause" (i.e. just admitting that the whole SML/Sarasaland affair was a weird misstep and not keep bringing back Daisy).

This isn't a game, per se, but rather its soundtrack: The Quake 3: Arena soundtrack by Sonic Mayhem and Front Line Assembly. Some of the best rock/electronic/industrial I've heard from a non-commercially-released soundtrack.

Also, anyone else think the original Star Fox (SNES) is totally underrated simply because of Star Fox 64 after it?  I mean, even the Wikipedia article states that the series "officially begins" with SF64, but I still enjoy the SNES game immensely and I think it probably deserves more recognition.

Thats my thoughts.  I love it.  But its not on the virtual console for other people to enjoy it thogh.

edit: geez, a wii game called ExiteBots: trick racing is good, but i dont know any one else who has it.

Though it was only released 3 or 4 months ago, its still amazingly unpopular.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the Super Nintendo is a very underrated game. I remember playing it as a kid and not being able to beat it. Around 6 years later, I finally put it in again and beat it.
The Mario series is the best! It has every genre in video games but RTS'! It also has a plumber who does different roles, a princess, and a lot of odd creatures who don't seem to poop!

Yes. It was actually a pretty in-depth Star Wars ripoff. You have the plot of the game and the Nintendo Power comic (yes it was canon, even in Japan) to consider, as well as the entirely finished Star Fox 2 which never got released. Star Fox 64 makes it clear that none of the stuff that went down in the SNES era ever happened.

In that case I vouch for a possible Star Fox movie to be based on the SNES era continuity.

Centipede '98 PC, PSX, DreamCast.

Cover:

DreamCast covers a little different.

Its great, but tis really ****in' hard. You get one hit and you lose a life [unless you collect some ladybug shells]

The really hard part is the bosses. i spent a week on the first boss [an ant] and now i got to the second today [a mantis] and its harder!

Except that Contra is difficult, whereas at least the PSX version of Centipede was way easy. Unfortunately, my copy of the game no longer works...

The console Dokapon games and the DS game are like Mario Party except that they're RPGs instead of minigame collections. Cool stuff.

Another good game is the free PC title Ocular Ink.

Dude, I saw that on G4 at my friend's house like an eternity ago, but I didn't know it was free.

I was playing Gurumin the other day and realized that You'd Never Heard Of it. Really quite a fun action RPG/platformer that Falcom made on PC and later ported to PSP.
That was a joke.

I totally heard of Gurumin before this thread. From you, granted, but still.

BLUE WISH RESURRECTION PLUS is an awesome free shoot-'em-up that came out last year. It's got a very forgiving (optional) auto-guard system, which is good if you're not used to manic shooters. Also low system requirements - my netbook runs it at ~60 FPS.

EDIT: Replay file of me playing through to level 5, accidentally demonstrating what I mean by "very forgiving" along the way.

EDIT AGAIN: Here's the guy's site, where he has a few other games (all free).

Stalin vs. Martians was a horrible game but had a great trailer.

Why aren't you people playing BWR+ yet?

Droplitz is a fun puzzle game that's only $2 until August 28th.
