Overall, I'd probably say that this version is inferior to the SMAS version...but that's like saying that SMW is inferior to SMB3 (or vice versa). Some of the changes they made did make the game feel a tad too easy...the extra blocks in places, the continues, and the changes to Toad's Houses (World 6 is particularly different, you now get the Hammer Suit in the first house, and the second house can now be accessed without completing 6-5). I've finished levels thinking, "Jeez, this seemed a lot easier than usual." Also, I don't like the the changes they made to the text/dialogue, and the music seems to have suffered more in this game than in any previous SMA installments (the castle theme sounds terrible IMO and the underground theme doesn't sound right either). I don't get it, Yoshi's Island sounded really close to SNES quality and that was more complex music. Still, they did add some nice touches: the intro, the Boo sound effects, the new "Perfect Clear" screen, the walls to your left closing before fighting Boom-Boom just like in the Yoshi's Island boss battles, the new coin room music, and I even liked the voices. The new e-Reader levels look great too, but I have yet to get an e-Reader so I'll have to wait on that.
