Does anyone know if any soundtracks exist for the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, The Adventures of SMB3 or Super Mario World (the show)?

Video Game Chat / Good Multiplayer DS Games

So, my fiancee and I have come into possesion of two DS's. But now we need games to play together! I know there are a few games that have limited options with one game pak (like New SMB, as we have found out), but is it worth the money to own two copies of a game if just the two of us are going to play it?

Here is a rundown of my DS game list. Reccomend to me any games that would be worth owning a second copy (like I know ACWW is one of them)..

New SMB
Kirby Squeek Squad
Mario Hoops
Dig Dug DS
Tetris DS
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Mario VS DK 2: March of the Minis
Mario Kart DS

Also, if we were to get a second copy of New SMB, what kind of options would open up? There are currently enough to keep us satisfied for a couple of gaming sessions, but what about the future?

Mario Chat / The SMB Theme List

I realise there is another topic like this one, but that one hasn't been updated in so long that I think it has disapparated. So, I made a new one.

Here we list any/all occurences of the SMB theme in other Mario games. Any game that has Mario in it (or the SMB theme) can be put on this list. Remakes will not count unless a new mix of the song appears in the new game. Anything that sounds questionable can be discussed too.

There may be some spoilers ahead, so please be aware. Please note, also, that I am only covering games that I have played, so if there's some game that I don't have listed, then I either don't know if the theme is there or have not played it.

Now, the list!

NES games

SMB- overworld theme
SMB2- Subspace
SMB3- Music Box

Gameboy (includes GBC, GBA)

Super Mario Land- the Marine Pop and Sky Pop (stages 2-3 and 4-3, respectively) have music that sounds similar to the SMB theme
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga- move explanations, Little Fungitown
Mario vs Donkey Kong- intro remix, credits remix
Wario Ware- during the SMB game

Super NES

Super Mario All*Stars- part of it plays on game select menu.
Super Mario World- Special Zone (let music loop 8 or 9 times to hear it)
Super Mario Kart- Mario's victory music, intro of every track (where camera zooms in on karts/player)
Mario Paint- part of one of the game's sample songs
Super Mario RPG- file select screen, Mario's Pad, Booster's Tower (behind the curtain in the one room), The End song (after the parade. Wait just a few seconds)

N64

Super Mario 64- title screen
Paper Mario- Chapter intro screens (wait about 10 seconds), 8-Bit Mario cameo (Boo's Mansion)
Mario Party- Title screen, How to Play board, Peach's Birthday Cake, Credits
Mario Party 3- The Cellular Shopper item plays the first 6 notes when used.
Mario Tennis- two seperate tennis courts have the theme
Mario Golf- Speed Golf
Super Smash Brothers- Peach's Castle, Classic Kingdom

Luigi's Mansion- in the Music Room, during the sequence that bring Mario out of the painting

Mario Hoops- I don't remember exactly, but I know it's there..
Tetris DS- during the game's Standard Mode
Itadaki Street DS- I don't know where exactly, but the website had some SMB music on it..

Wii

Super Paper Mario- World 1-1 has a remix, All through World 3
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves- during the SMB game, during the condcut the orchestra game

Unknown (this is the section for games that I am absolutley not sure about. How funny, this section is full of Mario Parties..)

Mario Party 2- the Mystery Land music sounds a lot like it has the theme remixed into it.
Mario Party 4- not present?
Mario Party Advance- not present?
Mario Party 6- when Twila/Brighton announces the last five turns?
Mario Party 8- haven't played all the way through yet..

As per the title, you can discuss the books and/or movies here. I thought I would start this up and see how many hits we get before 48 hours from now, when the final Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) has been released. If you know of any of book seven's spoilers, keep them out of this thread please!

Also, people who haven't read all the other books might want to steer clear of this thread unless you want crucial plot points spoiled for you. You have been forewarned..

Do you think Sirius Black is coming back? Do you think the Mirror of Erised will make another appearance? Do you think that Dumbledore's predictions about the Horcruxes are right? Do you think Harry will live to see the end of the final book?

The White Mushroom House / Metroid Prime for sale

I think I remember reading that somebody here wanted a copy of Metroid Prime for the GC. Well, here is their chance!

I am getting rid of my copy of the game and was wondering if anybody was interested in buying it. I have completed it (not that that matters, since save files are on memory cards now), but I have no desire to go back and play it again.

I am likely just going to give it to my sister if nobody here wants it. :)

EDIT: Sorry, but I am giving it to my sister. If that person who still wants it is looking for it, I might suggest something like Amazon.com or just going to any shop that still sells Gamecube games (like a second hand kind that will have it for around 20 bucks).

The White Mushroom House / Princess Toadstool figure

I am looking for a Princess Toadstool PVC figure (I'm assuming pvc means small and plastic) that once sat on top a birthday cake. We have other Mario figures too, and being the young kids that we were, my sister accidentaly dropped the Princess out of our car while it was in motion, so we have lost the Princess. The figures came from the mid- late eighties, possibly from before SMB3 came out.

The figure I'm looking for might be about the same height as this, but it would be more similar in coloring to this, I think.

EDIT: the Princess I'm looking for would come from the same era as this Mario figure, as this Mario is the same one that I've got. :)

If anybody has one they are willing to part with, then please let me know!

Mario Chat / Mario's Character

This topic may have spoilers for various games ahead, so be forewarned..

What do you think of the individual character endings in MPT? I thought they were all good, but there was one thing I didn't really like.. during Luigi's ending, Mario congratulates Luigi by slapping him hard on the back and "accidentaly" stepping on his foot. Luigi then looks at Mario with a look that clearly says "What the heck are you doing? Why??" Wouldn't Mario have been happy that his brother won a trophy, possibly in the most challenging of cups?

I don't like the character Mario is becoming: during Paper Mario 2, if/when you go back to Glitzville a second time, and become a fighter again, Jolene tells you that you have to start from the bottom and work your way up again. Now, the Mario I thought I was playing as would have accepted the challenge and just gone ahead and started over, but the PM2 Mario refuses Jolene's offe: he shakes his head no and makes his little disagreeaing noise. Jolene either didn't notice or disregarded it (and Nintendo didn't program her reacting to that in..)

And then, in Super Paper Mario, the first time he meets Tippi, he just assumes that she is going to attack him on site.

I've always pictured Mario as a fun loving, carefree kind of guy, not an arrogant jerk that jumps to conclusions. Am I reading too much into things?

Game Help / Metroid 2: Return of Samus

I have returned to the game after not playing for several years, and found I was near the end of the game.

I do have a question, though.. I am at what I believe is the last save point in the game, and after saving, I kept going on into the next area. As I moved through the area, my Metroid counter jumped from 1 to 9. This scared me, as I don't have the Ice Beam, but the Plasma Beam.

I kept on moving through the area, thinking I would come across the Ice Beam eventually (and quickly finding out that Metroids don't like to be shot by Plasma..), but I died before reaching any kind of safe area or Ice Beam.

Is the Ice Beam there, or do I need to backtrack?

Game Help / Mario Kart DS

I've had MKDS for a long time, but thought of a question..

Whatever happened to each character having 7 of his or her own karts?

I was enjoying experimenting with each kart, only to have most of them disappear after clearing most of the game. Now, only a small selection of what was available, is available.

Is there not a way to keep the 7 Karts per character? or do I have to start my game over to get that again?

Game Help / Mario Hoops

I need some help with Mario Hoops (as per the topic title..)

In order to unlock other features of the game, do I have to get the bronze, silver and gold rankings in a Tourney, or can I just get gold to unlock whatever is unlocked for that Tourney?

Also, how do I use a new costume once it's unlocked? I tried pressing a direction for one of Peach's, but it's either so similar that I missed it or I pressed a wrong direction..

Also, also: I was looking at GameFAQs, and to unlock one of the special Stadiums, I have to win by over 800 points in a game.. is that even possible?

One more thing: in Daisy Garden (I think that's it), what is the timing on the Pirahna Plants falling asleep?

Mario Chat / Super Paper Mario weirdness

I haven't had a chance to test this out myself, but someone on Gamefaqs.com (under the user name stillnotelf) has discovered a weird message in Flopside. I was a little late getting to the topic, but three locations for this message have been discovered (all in Flopside):

Back street, 1st floor flopside, 3d:

The White Mushroom House / Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix

Does anybody have a copy of DDR Mario Mix that they are willing to part with? I've been looking around my local retailers, and nobody seems to have it in stock. I've also been looking online, but the cheapest one that I've found is $74 (new with dance mat and box and all).

If you don't, that's ok. I was just seeing if anybody has one.

Mario Chat / G4 has it all wrong..

I saw the G4 show Cheat, and they had a quick tip for Super Mario World..

If you go through the goal at the end of each level when the last two digits of the timer matches the digit in the tens place on your star counter, you get extra points (ie: 42 stars means going through when your time looks like x44, where x is any number).

They also said that if you go through carrying an item, that item will become another 1-Up, but the video clearly showed that when Mario carried an item through the 2 goals that they were showing, the item became a Super Mushroom and was stored in the box at the top of the screen.

G4 didn't say this, but the items become something depending on how powered up Mario is, and if he has an item in reserve.. I can't remember exactly how it went, but I do remember that some special items (keys and Baby Yoshies) become 1-Ups when carried through the goal, no matter how powered up Mario is.

Forum Games / Create a Title

Using existing game titles, put them together to make your own title. Words like Mario can only be used once (unless you want to repeat it for comedic value).

For example, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour + Mario Kart: Double Dash= Mario Golf: Double Dash, Mario Kart: Toadstool Tour, Mario Golf: Toadstool Dash, and Mario Kart: Double Tour.

You don't have to list all possibilities (or use just Mario games)  like I just did, though. That was just the sample. :)

Anyway, here is one that I just thought of..

Super Mario Brothers + Dr Mario= Dr Mario Brothers, or Super Dr Brothers
