MGS:TTS didn't have mushrooms, Otacon had Mario and Yoshi figurines on top of his computer you could shoot for health.

My votes will come later. My best vote is currently F-ZERO X/GX for Mr. EAD, but I can't think of a cameo I really disapprove of.

Best: DK64's Donkey Kong Arcade machine (in Frantic Factory).

Worst: Alleyway

Best: The Mario & Wario reference in the first-gen Pokémon games and their remakes.

No vote for worst, but I will say that Sqrt2's vote for worst should be disqualified for not being a cameo.

Best: Link's Awakening. The sheer amount of cameos (Bowow, Goombas Tarin=Mario? Princess Toadstool image, Wart)

The Mario parody - not cameo - contained within Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum (and the DS version, Mission Wifix) is hilarious and works well with the game's atmosphere, and wouldn't be deserving of a "worst in series" award even if it was actually a cameo.

I dont' have a BEST vote yet, but the WORST one I can think of is that gambling game with the character that looks strikingly like Mario, but has an 'F' on his hat (and his shirt/overall colors are reversed). It was recently discussed in one of the topics too..

I highly suggest you check this page out, then. Alleyway is mentioned in the Mario Cameos/Allusions list for the Game Boy. Therefore, my vote is legitimate, I'm afraid. :D

Last time I checked, cameos don't appear on the box art - which, you'll notice, that page doesn't mention - or act as the only character of the game, so no.
