There is also a difference between unoriginal names and overused quotes. In the case of unoriginal names, people can be lazy and just stick character names together and call it a name, or take a word and combine it with "Dark", and call that a name. It just shows you can only copy someone else and use it for yourself.
In overused quotes for signatures, that's different. Signatures, unlike names, are optional. If someone chooses a quote of his liking and use it for his sig, that is all right. Glorb likes the "Zero Wing" quote, so he uses it for his signature. Even if it is dead and overused, that doesn't mean a person cannot still find it funny. If Glorb likes this overused quote, he can use it. Liking something that someone else likes is not a form of unoriginality, but using something that someone else uses just for the sake of it is a form of unoriginality. For example, say you like to wear red hats, even if millions of other people also like to wear red hats. That isn't unoriginal, that shows what you and the millions of others like. If you and millions of others were wearing red hats because of a fad, that is unoriginal, for you're wearing a red hat just because everyone else is.
So if one uses an unoriginal forementioned type of name, it shows that you did not choose it because you liked it, you chose it for the sake of it. But since signatures are optional, it is a matter of opinion. If one uses an overused, dead quote because he likes it and finds it funny, he can use it. Glorb uses the "Zero Wing" quote because it is in his opinion that it is funny. Even if you or millions of others do not find the quote funny, that is your opinion, but that does not change a thing when the beholder does.
