Uh, it's been officially stated that Wario and Waluigi's names are based on Mario and Luigi's. It's never been stated that Bowser is based on the Kappa.

Which would explain this debate, TheChef. If they had said that koopas were based on kappas, or said that they weren't, there wouldn't be this debate.

The debate shouldn't happen anyway because it's never been stated that Koopas are based on Kappas. So why are you debating about whether or not that's true, if it isn't?

The thing is though, no has said that they aren't based on Kappas, so there's no proof that they aren't Also, how can anyone dismiss the similarities between the two?

Yeah. The only real similarites are the hair on the head and the shell on the back. The koopa Troopas look more like kappas.

Pretty much every character with a shell has a variation of "Noko" in their name in Japan.
